Greeeaaaatttt. Excuse me while I go swallow some shattered glass.

Edit: Oops, wrong click.

Anyway, maybe, just maybe, he's like Hendry in that he's a good scout and bad GM.

Just grasping for anything that might resemble a bright side.

You can go back to your worrying now.

2 things

1. Someone being horrible at being a G.M. does not mean that he would be a bad scout.

2. Even if he is an awful scout, one bad scout will have little impact on the organization.

I just worry about his talent evaluation. "Gee, that Aramis Ramirez guy sure sucks - Bobby Hill and Jose Hernadez are certainly equal to him"

I must have deja vu. I swear we talked about this like 3 weeks ago.

We did but it was nothing official. Hendry and Littlefield wee talking about this during the winter meetings. Can he be as bad as the scout who wanted us to trade for Kendall? Can he be as bad as the scout who thought trading for Trachsel was a good idea? That remains to be seen.

What do:

B.J. Upton , Prince Fielder, Khalil Greene, Scott Kazmir, Nick Swisher, Matt Cain, Cole Hamels and Jeff Francoeur all have in common

:?:

If the goal is to add another node of incompetence to this organization, then I'd say this is a good move.

Well, to be fair, so does Bryan Bullington.

The answer is that they were all in the 2002 draft where the Bucs had the #1 pick and chose Bullington.

Littlefield's bio from the Bucs Page

Before joining the Pirates, Littlefield served the Florida Marlins as Vice President and Assistant General Manager under Dave Dombrowski, a position he held since March 6, 2000. With the Marlins, he assisted the GM in all aspects of baseball operations and was in charge of the club's scouting efforts in the Far East. In addition, he supervised the construction of the Marlins new baseball academy in the Dominican Republic.

Dave was named the Marlins Assistant General Manager on November 6, 1998, after spending parts of three seasons as the Director of Player Development for the Montreal Expos. Littlefield joined the Expos scouting department in November of 1991 as a National Crosschecker and East Coast Supervisor. He also spent three years in the Detroit Tigers organization as an area scout and East Coast Scouting Supervisor.

When it came to Matt Morris though..he spared no expense.

I find it hard to believe that someone would advance as high as GM without being really good at something in the baseball world. Hopefully Littlefield is now doing what he excels at for us.

There were some talented Expos teams back in the 90s though most of the homegrown talent on the 1994 team was probably scouted and assembled before Littlefield got there.
