With Christmas coming i'm looking to get some books. Obviously, Moneyball is the most popular book that I haven't read (though i'm sure I have a good knowing and idea of what's in it), so i'm getting that. Any other strategic/statistical books that you would recommend?

Oh, I don't know. "Harry Caray: Voice of the Fans," by Pat Hughes with Bruce Miles ain't too bad.

Haha. Is that the book they were always talking about during the broadcasts last year, or did you guys write it a couple of years ago?

Banks to Sandberg to Grace.

Yes, Muskat Love wrote it, but it's a fun book. It's simply Cub stories as told by the players. I recall Dunston have a particularly good story.

I've liked Baseball Between the Numbers so far, but some of the chapters are a bit of a stretch.

Really funny. Written by George Ellis of The Heckler.

That's the book they were talking about. It comes with an audio CD that includes many of Harry's calls.

The CDs came out a couple years ago. We wrote the book this year, and it was released this fall.

It's not a strategic/statistical book that you asked about, but "Where's Harry?" is a great read if you grew up with Harry on WGN.

Thanks guys. So far i'm going to get Moneyball, Baseball Between the Numbers, and a book not mentioned called Mind Game--which I hear is in essence is similiar to Moneyball, only using the Red Sox as an example of a team using moneyball with alot of money.

You need to get "The book" above all else.

I'm not talking about the "Baseball Voices" CD series (that's the one that came out a couple years ago). There is a different CD that's packaged with the book (not sold separately); each track on the CD relates to a chapter in the book.

Ball Four is the best baseball book that I've read... I know it's not statistical, but it's just a great read. It's one of just a few sports books (maybe the only one) to be rated one of the best 100 books of all time.

Juicing the Game, by Howard Bryant, is one of the best books I've ever read about baseball.

I second this one. Excellent book.

I seem to remember a funny one about Grace visiting the mound and overhearing a conversation between Zimmer and Sutcliffe. It was really quite good.
