to the Giants for starting pitching. My brother called from NYC and this rumor is making its way around NYC sports radio. No word on whether the Giants would have to deal Cain, Lowry or Lincecum to make a deal work.

Talks are in progress, but it's not a done deal. The station my brother was listening to had a source inside the Yankees that said Matsui would be willing to waive his no trade clause for the right deal.

And the right deal would be to get sent to San Francisco? Ughh. He can forget about postseason baseball for a long time if that's the case.

Probably, but the flight home would be 6 hours shorter.

I think the right deal means an extention.

A. Matsui isnt going anywhere.

B. If the Yanks were going to consider trading him the the Cubs, the only name theyd want to hear would be Zambrano.

I disagree, 1. If they asked for Zambrano, we could simply laugh. 2. Even the Yankees have expressed interest in shedding some payroll and adding some budding stars. Or at least keeping their own.

The Yankees organization isnt familiar with the term "shedding payroll".

I was more leaning towards "cost conscience" more this year than they've ever been.

2 years ago i would believe that. Same with last year. But the Yankees are being anything but "cost conscience" this year.

Arod is getting 27.5 million for 10 years (with incentives that can push it over 30 million

Rivera is getting 15 million for 3 years

Posada is getting 13 million for 4 years.

And those signings just occurred within the past month.

Ya think so, huh? Did you happen to notice the contracts that Rivera, Posada and ARod got?

If the deal is Lowry and spare parts for Matsui, it wouldn't be a bad deal for the Giants. The Giants have some guys who have some interesting potential at the corners, but none of the OFs in their system would be likely to produce the way Matsui can. Lowry's stats from last season are deceptive. He's not as good as people think.

Cain or Lincecum for Matsui, on the other hand, would be stupid.

Sounds like a New York media creation to me. I can't see how the Giants could possibly want to send Lincecum, Lowery or Cain, all twenty something solid pitchers with small salaries to NY for a 13+ million/yr guy, admittedly a solid player, would soon be hitting 12 homers a year playing in that park. Maybe if NY took Zito and put in some cash, I could start to see it.

Come on!!!

The Yankees have no conscience, but while it is unlikely, they may be cost-conscious. Please speak English.

Have you forgotten who runs this team?! There is absolutely no one worse than Brian Sabean. Anywhere. Ever.

A. You don't know that.

B. They may here Zambrano's name, but it would be in the context of "You aren't getting Zambrano."

Yanks are apparently going looking to get Brad Hennessey and Jonathan Sanchez.

How bout we offer them Eyre and Dempster?

Or better yet, Marquis and Dempster?

Move Soriano to right and have Matsui play left. Or I'm sure Matsui could handle right.

I've always liked Matsui. He's an over 850 OPS guy who seems to have a knack for driving in runs. He had 10 Sac Flies last year, which is probably more than the entire Cubs team.
