Only thing is, no one knows who's involved:

Elijah Dukes-OF-Rays Dec. 3 - 2:11 pm et

The Cincinnati Post's C. Trent Rosecrans is hearing word of a possible Rays-Nationals deal as being done.

We know the two sides have talked about Elijah Dukes. The Nationals no longer need the outfielder with Lastings Milledge in town, but GM Jim Bowden probably wouldn't mind the surplus if Dukes came cheap. If it's not Dukes, perhaps the trade involved Edwin Jackson or maybe Felipe Lopez.

Now it's Dukes:

Elijah Dukes-OF-Rays Dec. 3 - 2:20 pm et

The St. Petersburg Times believes that the Rays could be close to trading Elijah Dukes to the Nationals.

Nationals GM Jim Bowden reportedly was overheard on his cell phone yesterday at the airport talking to someone named "Elijah." Also being cited as evidence is that Dukes hasn't resumed playing in the Dominican Republic since last week's blowup, though there may be other reasons for that.

Why are not we going after a guy likes Dukes. I really don't care if he is a scumbag..I just want to win baseball games.

Jim doesn't sign d-bags, he signs guys who are bad at baseball.

Life would be a lot easier if Dukes were left-handed.

Life would be a lot easier if Jim Hendry was not the GM.

Yes, I just went there.

Too bad. I guess I need to ditch my fantasy about playing for the Cubs, because even if I was great at baseball..Jim wouldn't sign me.

Elijah Dukes-OF-Rays Dec. 3 - 3:38 pm et

The Washington Post reports that the Nationals will only be giving up a minor leaguer for Elijah Dukes.

It looks like the Rays decided enough was enough and simply salvaged what little they could after Dukes' latest incident in the Dominican Republic. Tampa Bay wanted to open up a roster spot anyway, so the player the team gets back probably won't be on the 40-man roster.

Glenn Gibson-S-Nationals Dec. 3 - 5:13 pm et

Left-hander Glenn Gibson is going from the Nationals to the Rays for Elijah Dukes.

The Rays could have done worse here, as Gibson, a 2006 fourth-round pick, ranked among the Nationals' top-10 prospects. The trade is expected to be officially announced at 6 p.m. EST.

Dukes has done some stuff that never made it to the press.

As Im sure many pro athletes have.

Dukes more than others.

While I agree that Dukes has been no angel, I think we would be surprised about some of the behaviors of professional athletes. I highly doubt Vick or Dukes is the tip of the iceberg.

Elijah Dukes-OF- Nationals Dec. 3 - 6:40 pm et

Nationals acquired outfielder Elijah Dukes from the Rays for LHP Glenn Gibson.

Gibson is a quality prospect, but he's a long way from the majors and he's worth sacrificing to gamble on Dukes' potential. If Dukes is on best behavior in spring training, he should get a chance to battle Wily Mo Pena and Lastings Milledge for playing time, with all three making the team. If not, he can be optioned back to Triple-A, a scenario that would become more likely if Nick Johnson shows up healthy and Dmitri Young needs to refamiliarize himself with left field. More so than Milledge, Pena becomes a riskier pick in fantasy leagues with Dukes around.

Glenn Gibson-S- Rays Dec. 3 - 6:36 pm et

Rays acquired LHP Glenn Gibson from the Nationals for outfielder Elijah Dukes.

Gibson, a 2006 fourth-round pick, went 4-3 with a 3.10 ERA, 47 H and 58/15 K/BB in 58 IP after reporting to SS Single-A Vermont in late June. A fastball-curveball pitcher with No. 3-starter upside, he goes from slotting somewhere in the 7-10 range among Nationals prospects to 10-15 in the Tampa Bay system.

What the hell did he do in the DR?

Ejected for arguing balls and strikes and then tried to go after the ump but was restrained by multiple teammates.
