A simple, no chance at ever happening, scenario:

The NCAA mandates that EVERY team who wants to be eligible for the playoff MUST join a conference. 120 team=12 conferences. For competetive balance, EVERY conference is capped at 10 teams. Every team plays a round-robin conference schedule, PLUS one wild card game. That's a 10 game schedule. NO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

All conference champions (including co and tri champions) are automatically in. Use a panel or a formula to determine the remaining teams in the 32 team tourney. (1st 3 rounds are high-seed home field. Rounds 4 and 5 are current BCS bowls)

Play 8 bowl games for non-tourney teams. That creates a postseason opportunity for 48 teams- a much more appropriate number.

After round one, winners move on, losers get a bowl game.

After round two, winners move on, losers get a bowl game.

After round three, winners advance.

After round four, winners advance to National Championship. Losers play a consolation game. (Rounds 4 and 5 are current BCS Bowls.)

So, non-tourney teams play 11 total games.

1st round losers play 12 games.

2nd and 3rd round losers play 13 games.

4th and 5th round teams play 15 games.

There are a total of 24 Bowl games, and the title is decided on the field.

This scenario is so far fetched that it could never happen.

Martin Rucker got screwed again.

Darius Hill should've been a finalist, he had more yards than the two finalists other than Travis Beckum, in one fewer game in Martin Rucker's case (though I think he should've been a finalist over Fred Davis, not Martin Rucker).

The question I pose to people who are advocates of realigning and having 10 12 team conferences or 12 10 team conferences, what happens if a I-AA school wants to move up? Because you can't ban schools from moving up.

I anticipated that question. The NCAA can limit the number of schools who are a part of 1A. At the very least, set criteria that makes a team perform at a certain level (victories, enrollment, attendance figures, etc) for 3 years. If a team meets said requirements, you either make room and adjust, or you evaluate a current 1A team that needs to be demoted. Makes staying in 1A interesting for lower tier teams.

Who will be favored in the Missouri/Illinois game in Week 1 next year?

I don't know much about what Mizzou returns.

I can't imagine the spread will be very much. Both should be in the Top 15 or even Top 10. Mizzou loses a couple offensive weapons, but that means more playing time for people like Perry(who was a Freshman All-America then got bumped to 5th WR because of depth) and Alexander. Daniel is back to lead the offense, and there's going to be 9-10 returning defensive starters.

Sounds like Mizzou should be ranked top 5, no?

But how does a WR go from Freshman AA to 5th on team?

Perry was the 3rd or 4th wideout last year when he got those accolades. Maclin was healthy this year and Alexander(who's a superior athlete/physical specimen) leaped him in the depth chart with a great summer/season.

I've never really been a fan of college football until this year (When you're an Illini fan and semi-like college football, there was never that much to get excited about). I still don't love it like I do the NFL but there was definitely some fun stuff to watch.

Assuming we lose Shard, I'd say Mizzou (-4)

I think a lot will have to do with what happens in the bowl games. If both win, I could see either a pick em or Illinois favored. If Mizzou wins and Illinois loses, I could see MU -4. Anyways, that's a long time away. Let's just hope Gameday comes to St. Louis.

Alexander is just like Maclin, except he has unbelievable jumping ability. Assuming Coffman stays (I bet he will), he's going to put up Rucker 07 numbers at least, with probably more touchdowns. Derrick Washington (is the Truth) and Jimmy Jackson will split time at RB, both, IMO, are better than Temple (and I'm a big Temple fan). Our offensive won't miss a beat. All that said, I can't see the spread being more than -4 either way.

Florida's receivers laugh in the face of Maclin and the rest of yours.

Dude, you started rooting for Florida because they're good, not because you have any connections whatsoever to the school. You have absolutely ZERO room to talk trash. Have you ever even been to the state of Florida?

Floridas recievers laugh in the face of Meyer as they are transferring to the U of I as well.

Oh god.

What? I think you are getting a little nit picky. Heaven forbid I ever use the word "the" before saying U of I, considering it sounds stupid without the word "the", but whatever.

And with that I will post this. Mizzou commit London Davis TE from Cahokia Il, has backed out of his commitment, to come join THE Zooker.
