I think this would be a good time to let you all know, I too have an insider source, he happens to be Brian Roberts' official photographer. He sent me this picture through email today:

Take it for what it's worth...

Well, now it's gotta be official. He can't play for the O's in a Cub uniform.

Dave Kaplan said that he's gotten so many people calling him and telling him about a rumor that "a reporter for another radio station in town" (pretty clear reference to Bruce Levine I think) said that the Brian Roberts deal is done, and that they are holding off announcing it for the convention. So Kaplan called Roberts agent, who said that he's shot down about 10 rumors so far and this is number 11. He said there is NO DEAL IN PLACE, that Roberts is not in Chicago, and will not be in Chicago this weekend. He said that Angelos has not shot down any deals, and that the only deal that has been brought to Angelos was the Tejada deal.

Numerous times Kaplan called the rumor ridiculous, and more or less ridiculed Levine's report.

Suuuuuure Kaplain works for WGN and would be the type of person that protects a surprise like BRob being traded.

I'm kidding by the way.

This thread will never die, 2 years later while we're still trying to make a trade for Brob, this thread will be alive, at 3,892 pages.

2 years? Psh, try 22 years. We'll still be here miserable, Jim Hendry will still be the GM, and he'll still be trying to trade for Roberts despite him being retired for 10 years.

And this thread will still be going.

For what it's worth, it was not Levine who reported the rumor on ESPN 1000, it was Harry of Mac, Jurko, and Harry. According to Harry, the Cubs and Orioles have a deal for Roberts in place and the Cubs were waiting for the convention to announce it.

Oh we'll get Roberts. There's no doubt.

We'll get him in 2012 after he's well past his prime and we can overpay for lack of production.

He'll be a free agent in two years. We shouldn't need to trade for him.

Oops. My bad. Kaplan never named who it was, and I jumped to conclusions. My apologies to Mr. Levine.

Looks like he's going to be making an appearance on South Park in the near future.
