I'm going to crack up laughing at Hendry when Roberts puts on his Indians uniform next week.

Because he will have proven that he can't even work a deal with his former employer for a guy who doesn't want to be in Baltimore, for a guy who Baltimore would rather not pay to play for Baltimore, and to a team that can use all the help they can get.

It has been widely reported that Jim and Andy actually did reach an agreement and then Peter Angelos stepped in and did what he does best, he got involved.

Also, would someone please, please, please, show me just one article besides Ken Rosenthal's in the beginning of January that even remotely sites any credible source of the Indians saying they are interested at all? Because all I can find is the Rosenthal piece, which is two months old, and there hasn't been one whisper anywhere else that I can find of them still having interest.

When I look now, all I find is knucklehead O's fans making this junk up in forums. Someone please link an article or real rumor to this somewhere. Of course, now that I've said this, the Indians are tayloring Roberts' Indians jersey as we speak probably.

IMHO that would be fine with me, I'm tired of MacPhail holding a ransom over us. Let's just move on, I'd much rather see Hendry go after Chone Figgins.

Eww. No thanks on Chone Figgins.

Wow. I don't quite understand this all-out negative sentiment against Chone Figgins. Aside from one subpar year in 2006 (which really wasn't that bad), what is wrong with a guy who can play like five different positions effectively and put up a career line of 293/354/754. For a guy who doesn't hit homeruns, that's a pretty good line. I think he brings a lot of versatility being a switch hitter and because he's played six different positions in total.

Plus B Roberts is a South Carolina boy, and I am a huge fan, so I have a little biased opinion when it comes to that.
He's even more a North Carolina guy, born in Durham and completing his college baseball career at UNC after transferring from USC.

You are actually wrong there. You have it flip-flopped. His dad was the head coach at UNC when he was playing there, then his dad got fired. So he transfered from UNC to USC, where he graduated. He did play more years at North Carolina then he did at South Carolina, but he graduated (well, don't know if he graduated) but he finished his career before going to the minors at South Carolina.

Ah. Baseball Reference had his schools listed as South Carolina and North Carolina, in that order, so I assumed that was the order he played at the schools. But apparently the listing is most recent to earliest.

There's only one thing I can think of when seeing this thread anymore:

(In Kip's voice): Well, things are getting pretty serious right now. I mean, we chat online for, like, two hours every day so I guess you could say things are gettin' pretty serious.

For anyone who is interested, BigBird (I know, I know) is saying, that his guy told him, that the O's have sent the Cubs medical reports for both Roberts and Payton. Couple that with Roberts (who isn't injured) being held out of consecutive Spring games and something could be brewing...

His person is also saying that he has received no indication that the deal is close, and bb actually went on to say that it was his opinion that Roberts wouldn't be traded. Plus, today is the Orioles longest road trip, so most of the regulars didn't make the trip.

Thanks for the update. I'm assuming all hell is breaking loose (par for the course) at OH.

I hate when they do that. I hate when real reporters do it to. I don't care what your opinion is. Report the facts/what you heard. Don't throw in your own thoughts. Nobody cares. /rant

Yes but the other regulars have been playing consistently and Roberts has not. Also, it was his personal opinion that nothing gets done but that's inconsistent with what his "guy" is pointing to; while nothing is about to happen today, the surrendering of medical records and, what appears to be, an effort to prevent Roberts from being injured points to a desire to move him. Plus, I think Roch's blog also mentioned that Payton would be in the batting cages instead of in the lineup as well.

So is BR going to sit out all Spring? Jesus! Get this thing done already!

seriously

If I'm Roberts I'd be getting more vocal about it. Either trade me or keep me!

I'm pretty sure we heard that he said that to the O's.......about 2-3 weeks ago.

I'm assuming that half of their posts over there are all about what they are going to do with Hill, Marmol, Pie, and half our farm system too. I don't put too much stock into what's said over there. As much as I hope that is true, I am officially in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp.

I really wish that either he would get traded or someone official would come out and say "We are not trading him, no matter what, for any reason." so this whole thing can die.

In other news Lindsay Lohan is getting serious about her rehab.
