This story about DeRosa concerns me:

http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/newsstand/discussion/mlbd23/

I bet he'll be traded if this Roberts deal goes down (lol).

I hope he has/will talk to Jim/Lou about possibly playing SS.

Imma call BS on that article, as it says that DeRosa and Hendry have talked more than once this winter.

Hendry was on the Mike North show recently, and North asked him about some comments DeRosa made - and Hendry said that he hasn't spoken to Mark and that he knows how to get in touch with him if he has concerns.

Hendry's on North in seconds... listen live

Let us know if it's anything substantial. I'll wager on that not being the case though.

North asked him about steroids, Miggy, and Selig (and I think he was alluding to Roberts). Hendry tried to stay neutral on the subject of commenting on other team's players ( and GMs) in general. He also refused to discuss the names of players that have been mentioned in trade rumors (tampering). Finally, Hendry's hoping to pull off "two more trades" before Spring Training. He also said that the only players that are untouchable are those with no trade clauses; it is possible that another team could convince him to part with guys they assume are on the Cubs untouchable list.

FYI: the podcast will be posted later on The Score website.

Hmm, I didn't hear that quote. What question was that a part of?

My guess is those two trades would be Roberts and a platoon outfielder to go with Pie. That would probably mean that Murton is gone in the Roberts deal, but who knows for sure.

I heard it. He said it like he wants to make 2 more trades, but if they don't happen they don't happen.

North immediately after the interview said he say "he knows" the Orioles want Colvin & Pie for Bedard.

He said it more than once but I remembered it because he repeated it towards the end. He was responding to the question about the Cubs being in the playoffs again this year; he said he felt they had somethings left to do this winter and he wanted to get two more trades before ST... He also recognized that to get the trades completed he'll have to get the other team to oblige and compete with other teams who are after the same players...

I think that's probably right.

I'm thinking that Murton goes to Texas for Byrd and a pitching prospect.

hmmm...this seems pretty ok...

how would he "know" that?

North's just talking about rumors. I wouldn't put too much faith in what he said (besides, he said Pie, Colvin, and others...)

For Bedard? Sign me up. Even if the Cubs have to include Cedeno, or Marshall.

Michael Myers feels left out..

It is the "Bruce Weber Thread" of the transaction forum.

We should combine it with Lieber because with Liever's signing it will now be ok to get rid of Marshal and Gallager for Roberts.

Forget Roberts, here's the two trades I'd like to see:

1. Pie, Colvin, Gallagher, Cedeno, Murton for Bedard and Luke Scott. Tell Soriano the good news is he gets to stay at leadoff, the bad news is he'll have to get used to CF.

2. Marshall for Felipe Lopez.

CF Soriano

RF Fukudome

1B Lee

3B Ramirez

LF Scott

2B DeRosa

C GEOVANY SOTO

SS Lopez/ Theriot (platoon/ competition). If Lopez rebounds, he and Theriot can lead off if Soriano struggles offensively as he gets used to CF.

Life would be easier because Murton would be left-handed.

North couldn't even pronounce Colvin's name earlier this morning, so I wouldn't put much stock into it. He referred to him as "Ty...Ty..something".

Unless DeRosa is lying, it's not BS. It's from Cubs.com

I think this would be a good time to let you all know, I too have an insider source, he happens to be Brian Roberts' official photographer. He sent me this picture through email today:
