Nobody particularly interesting, giving the likes of Andre Dawson, Mark McGwire, and Goose Gossage another chance, but lets take a look at some of these first timers shall we?

-Chuck Knoblauch?-Seriously?

-Brady Anderson?-You gotta be kidding.

-Robb Nen?-This is a joke right?

-Travis Fryman?-Someone needs to explain to me the qualifications to get on this ballot, cause I was under the impression that it supposed to be the best of the best.

-I love Shawon Dunston, but if hes elected to the Hall, I will personally hunt down everyone on this board and by them a drink.

Im bracing myself for 5 years from now when Neifi is on the ballot.

Not sure why Blyleven isn't getting more love.

287 wins (26th all time, 11th all time for pitchers starting their careers after 1950), 60 shutouts (9th all time), 3701k (5th all time), 242 complete games (6th all time after 1950), 3.31 ERA.

5-1 with a 2.47 ERA and a CG in 6 games started in the Postseason.

I believe that all players with at least 10 years of MLB service time make it onto the HOF ballot.

I think there's a big difference between having a lot of wins in individual seasons and racking up nearly 300 over a career.

Meph may disagree and have some math stat thing that will prove me wrong and that I won't be smart enough to understand.

Raines may go down as the best player never elected. He deserves it, but I don't think he'll make it :(

Unfortunately, at the rate the Vets are voting, Ron Santo might claim that title.

Apparently they retooled the Veterans' Committee. I think this year is Ron Santo's best chance to get elected.

Not a lot, write Ryan.

Raines, Trammel, McGwire, Blyleven, Dawson.

I'm big hall, but could probably be talked out of any of the last 3.

Oh, and Goose and Rice will get elected, and Raines will get some criminally low amount of votes. ~27%

Blyleve and Goose should be in, period.

It'd be nice to see Hawk in there, but I don't think he'll get in this year.

Dunston's the reason I wanted to play shortstop. Unfortunately for him, that's not a qualification to get into the Hall. ;)

hey maybe this year one of the top 10 shortstops in major league history will get 20% of the vote

and the more i looked into it, the more i was sold on raines. of course he won't get in because:

a) didn't get 3000 hits

b) played on bad (and obscure) teams

c) didn't hit many home runs

d) voters will ignore his great plate discipline

e) single-season high of 71 rbi, he couldn't have been that good

Rains played on some really good Expo teams that also included Dawson but I agree with what you're saying though. I thought he was a heck of a player.

Didn't he start at second base before shifting to the OF?

They also have to get a certain percentage ( 15-20% ?) of the vote to stay on the ballot after this year, unless they've changed those rules. A lot of those guys will drop off next year because of that.

You're right, although I believe the actual percentage is 5%.

This guy should be a no brainer, first-ballot, but I fear he'll miss the cut this year.

First ballot? Really? He was solid for a long time and still put up great numbers into his 40's (steroids, anyone) but imo first ballot is really stretching it.
