Sam Fuld 8? Is he that much higher on Fuld than most or is the system that devoid of talent?

Higher than most. He likes the Theriots and Fulds of the world.

I'll have to mull my Top 10 over.

Samardzija is the biggest unknown, as far as I can tell. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of people with him in their Top 3 and a number of others with him outside the Top 20.

Personally, I fall into the former category. People have to put the hype and contract aside and realize that this was his first full season dedicated solely to baseball. It's ludicrous to expect the guy to come in, guns blazing, and shred the minor leagues despite his inexperience. However, there is a lot to like about him. Next season should give everyone a good picture of what his likely ceiling is.

Claims he could start for 6 teams in center. Looking at the numbers provided by CF on the bottom 6 teams (with the Cubs in 6th), maybe that's accurate, but it's hardly a ringing endorsement.

Without the hype and contract, I'm not sure what there is to like about him. Sure it was his first full season, but it's not like he looked great but wore down. He pretty much stunk from day 1. I didn't need him to shred anybody. But it would have been nice if he didn't stink.

Actually, he started out poorly, but promptly turned around and put up significantly better numbers in AA.

3-3, 6 GS, 3.41 ERA, 34.1 IP, 8 HR, 20/9 K/BB, .250 BAA

Based on those numbers, I wouldn't say he stank. Those are pretty good numbers for a 22 year old in AA.

Sadly his GO-AO and HR numbers tanked at AA. 5.24 K/9 still not great. But yeah, I have him in my top 5.

He needs to figure out how to strike people out at a clip which would be acceptable for a guy with a 98 mph fb. 5.24/9 ain't cuttin it.

Or get more grounders - 1.59 GO-AO at high-A isn't that great for a groundball pitcher.

Didn't know he was necessarily a groundball pitcher. What kind of sink does he got on that fb?

Or, does he rely on a slider for groundballs?

Raisin, your list actually skips from 15 to 17. I'm not sure if you got off track on your numbering or if you had someone on your list you forgot to type in.

He supposedly has real good sink on his 2-seamer.

But his GO rate slipped big time at AA to 1.05 and he gave up 8 HR (2.1 HR/9 [from 0.7 HR/9 at A+]).

His AA splits are too sample size dependent to get worried. We can throw them out. His GB% at all the other levels was over fifty percent. He's fine there....of course he can't strike guys out but he can get them to hit the ball on the ground, thank God for players like Neifi.
