Joe might actually play the young guys :(

Torre seems like a manager that is willing to put the young guys out there if they deserve the shot. I havent followed the Yankees any closer than what I see on ESPN.

Grady Little resigned today.

And Joe Torre has reportedly agreed to a 3 year/$14.5 million contract.

odds that the Dodgers win more games than the Yankees next year?

The only thing Torre had going for him as manager of the Yankees was that he was good at managing egos.

A monkey could fill out the line up card for the Yankees and make the playoffs every year. In that regard, Torre was certainly nothing special as manager. I like the guy, but his resume isn't really all that impressive considering.

You should know everything about them then.

I think Torre is a very good manager. If I recall, he won a lot of games (no division titles) with some really crappy cardinal teams.

I'm sure the Dodgers want to delay this Torre signing for as long as they can because of the lack of minorities being interviewed for managerial jobs. I forgot who got the Pirate job but if he isn't a minority MLB better or has to cover its butt regarding this.

The Dodgers actually wanted Girardi and offered him a contract before the Yankees had.

It's official:

Jeff Kent-2B-Dodgers Nov. 1 - 5:29 pm et

Dodgers named Joe Torre manager.

He couldn't finish the job in New York, but Torre is completely committed to wrecking Scott Proctor's arm, no matter what it takes. Why else would he choose L.A.? Well, there is the three-year deal, likely at more than $4 million per year. Los Angeles would seem to become an even more favorable destination for free agents with Torre in the fold, but it's not a great bet that any Yankees players will follow him to California.

I love the bolded part.
