As if UCLA didn't already have enough problems, Cowan is hurt and it looks the the walk-on redshirt freshman McLeod Bethel-Thompson might be QBing the next UCLA drive.

You can pull out instances in any game that a call goes one way or another. Are you saying that Penn St has never gotten a call in a game against Michigan. Or none that you remember.

please, jog my memory. I can give a dozen examples of bad calls that have gone against penn state the past five years of the series; usually when i ask for bad calls against michigan i don't get any examples

Because thats what fans do. They remember what goes against them(especially in games they lose) and forget whats goes for them. I dont know I dont watch every Penn St/Michigan game. The one that Paterno chased down the ref after the game. There was a call that went for Penn St about 30 secs before the one that went against them. If it was called right Penn St would have had 4th and 15 instead of 4th and 3. Probably would have ended the drive.

Anyway that Holding call has really got MSU running the ball well. It even opened Hoyer up for a good Play action pass.

If you want bad officiating, try playing Duke in football sometime.

Someone explain to me why Notre Dame would go for it on 4th and 14 with 7 minutes left at their own 30. It's amazing it worked.

Notre Dame's defense hasn't stopped Navy all day long. They had to go for it otherwise Navy would run the clock out.

I was surprised Weis actually did it, but I think it was the right move even when it was called.

Wasn't that Notre Dame's first completion all half? I'd say the odds were better that they'd cost themselves the game with over 5 minutes to go thanks to the great field position they'd give up than to do what they did.

Yeah, it was their first completion of the half, but it was also only their their 4th attempt of the half. They haven't had to pass at all because they have been running the ball right at Navy.

It was certainly very risky, but when neither team had punted all game long, it didn't seem promising to punt it away. At best, you get the ball back with 4 minutes left and you cannot run the ball down the field like they just did. Plus, it's not like Navy can kick field goals (as shown in this game), so giving it to them on the 30 wasn't as risky because of that.

34-14 Arizona. What a joke.

The touchdown came on a play-action pass where the TE was wide open with no Bruin within 20 yards of the TE.

dude there's a reason that michigan state fans are wondering about the officiating in this game, and illinois fans a couple of weeks ago, and penn state fans, and northwestern fans...

Because they get tired of losing to Michigan year in and year out so they come up with crazy theories about how the referees are biased for Michigan and that allows the fans of the other teams to sleep at night without thinking their team sucks. Rather than "You know, maybe our team just isn't that good." it's "We're better than Michigan but they just get all the calls and the referees favor them."

ah good to see that our california friend follows the big ten closely and sees most of the conferences games.

Bitching and moaning about penalties is a cop out. There are instances for both teams in which penalties could be called but don't. It's just convenient that every fan of another Big 10 team ONLY remembers the penalties that went against their team and don't remember a single instance in which a penalty called hurt Michigan. And they have happened. I guarantee it and don't need to have watched every Big 10 game to know it.

I know you watch college basketball, would you say Duke gets a pretty good advantage from the referees?

No more or less than any other team. People just remember the calls that favor Duke because they hate Duke.

Explain to me how a jump shooting team shoots more free throws than anyone else. Specifically one that shoots mainly threes.

Duke is one of the better teams in the nation and generally has a lot of good players. They play a lot of teams, especially out of conference, that aren't very good. Those teams generally don't have very good players. Good players are going to draw fouls against not very good players because those other players, you know, aren't very good.

Right, so how come they still shoot more free throws when they play the just as talented teams in the ACC? Even though they shoot a majority of their shots from behind the three point line and play the most in your face defense of any team in that conference?

Yeah, plus I just looked at their non-conference schedule and picked out 3 good teams who were better at getting the ball inside than Duke was last year. Georgetown, Indiana, and Gonzaga. You would expect those teams to dominate Duke on the free throw line. Here are the final totals combined for those 3 games:

Duke-76 attempts, Opposition-38.

Funny how every week some crappy team plays their best half or best game of the year against UCLA.

Arizona is up 27-14 on UCLA and should be up more. UCLA's defense has been on the field way too much and is going to get worn out in the second half between being tired and the Tucson heat. And this is the most winnable game remaining on the UCLA schedule. Whoops.

not really, i'm convinced that the most winnable games for ucla are the ones against good teams. Oregon or USC? sure we can beat them. Utah without their quarterback and running back? An awful wazzu team? let's get blown out!

You make a good point. Of course, UCLA played down to Utah and WSU on the road and upset Cal in Pasadena. Maybe they do have a chance against ASU and Oregon.

i hate picking ucla games. I fully expect them to win at least one of those last three games, maybe even two of them. No way I'm putting many confidence points on them either... only way i do is if it looks like ucla has completely mailed it in for the year.

Holy crap, that was a crazy sack by Navy. Dude jumped over the running back to get to Sharpley.

ND should have tried a field goal there.

Now that the officiating is straightened out. MSU has really picked up the action. Our running game was strong on our TD drive and our defense did ok. Really should have been a td for Michigan but Henne overthrew the ball.

Pat Cowan out with a concussion.

UCLA skips Bethel-Thompson and goes to the option/spread guy, Osaar Rasshan!

He looked ok for a guy who isn't very accurate and is QBing for the first time at the NCAA level, got UCLA a FG. Arizona up 34-17 now.

No way man you are so wrong. Josh McRoberts is just way more talented than Roy Hibbert and D.J. White.

people who act like officiating can't change the outcome of a game really need a reality check. same that goes for people who don't think superstars / good teams dont get the benefit of the doubt more than the average team. yes we have all heard the cliche that officiating shouldnt matter, but it does, and denying it just displays ignorance

How can there be a big pissing match about officiating and Hawai'i hasn't been mentioned once? Edited by Jon

Wow, I like Osaar Rasshan. Great arm, very very mobile. I'd love it if he got more reps in this lost season.

UCLA now down 34-24. Osaar Rasshan should have been playing much earlier than today.
