So, who'd be up for another mock tournament selection committee this year? Hoping to get interest from about 8 this year (ended up with 2-3 that completed the process last year).

Selection would be 2 weeks from today, and would require a decent commitment over the 4-day weekend of the actual selection (Thursday-Sunday). If there's enough interest, I can post a lot more of the specifics.

Count me in. I have a midterm that Friday, but other than that I'll be free the entire weekend.

Hey Raisin, not sure if you saw this but Reeves Nelson had a section playoff record 53 points in Modesto Christian's 122-100 win last night in the DIV semifinals. Yes that score is correct. The section final is on Saturday. I was hoping to go to that and see Nelson again but I have to cover the UCD baseball game on Saturday.

Yeah, I'll do it again.

ND loses to Louisville 90-85, never once led in the game and it wasn't that close (Hillesland hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer). Not a surprise to me at all. What was a surprise was Luke Effing Harangody. 40 points, 12 rebounds, and he even drained three triples, his first three of his career, towards the end. What a ridiculous performance.

yeah i was playing poker with a guy who put $100 on louisville -8. he was up $800 heading into this past weekend and was on a $750 losing streak, and he looked like he was about to lose it when louisville lost that big lead. when harangody made the third trey with 0.4 left, costing him a push, he just got up, went outside, and had a smoke. i think it was either that or he was going to break something inside.

enough with the polar bear crap from steve lavin and brent musburger...

go badgers

Michigan State is one extremly overrated team. The selection committee better not make the same mistake that the pollsters are making.

USC leads Arizona by 7 with under 3 to play :) Also, go UCLA and Wazzu tonight.

Yeah, I'm really hoping IU can beat them at their place for the first time in 15 years on Sunday, because MSU has really gotten worse as the season has gone along.

I didn't watch the game-why did Neitzel only play 25 minutes? And only 3 points he scored-that's almost shocking.

luke can have the points, i'll take the win thankyouveddymuch.

that win just clinched a first round bye in the monstrous east tournament. we now have an extremely good chance of winning the conference outright in only our 3rd year of being in the big east.

UCLA and ASU are in the middle of a shootout...2:31 left in the first half and UCLA up 19-13.

I don't see how I don't take you guys to make the Final Four. Those first twelve minutes or so were utterly dominant. Made us look like fools. Very impressive.

Josh Shipp breaks out of his 0/20 3-point shooting slump with 4 treys as UCLA beats ASU 70-49 in Tempe. Collison also hit 5 three pointers.

Up next is Arizona in Tucson.

I heard that. I''m quite pleased, he sounds like a great player and a kid who'll be around for about three seasons.

Once again, I hope you guys put a beatdown on 'Zona.

Everything went right for the bubble watch tonight. Saint Joe's lost, Arizona lost, Arizona St. lost, and Cal lost =D>

I think Arizona will be in - they should beat the Oregon schools and have the #1 RPI.

You mean #1 SOS. Yeah, they probably will be in, but they're certainly making it interesting for themselves.

Now that they are finally healthy, the Cards are going to be a tough team to beat.

Your team better learn how to play D. You guys are great on offense but your defense is going to cost you in the NCAA's.

It's actually been 17 years (1991). The 1993 team that went 17-1 in the Big Ten didn't play in East Lansing. I came into last night's game thinking Michigan State had to win for IU to even share the conference title, but I now have a little more hope IU can win up there. If IU does somehow win at MSU, they'll still almost certainly share the title, but that's better than nothing.

Louisville is really good. It was just a matter of time and health.

Ordinarily we are much better on defense...Brey came out in a zone for some odd reason and it failed miserably. There's really no reason for us to play zone unless Luke Zeller (who can't defend bigs by himself) is on the court, because all the other guys we have are decent if unspectacular on the ball defenders.

I'm not too worried. For a while now I've been looking at ND as a Sweet 16-caliber team, maybe Elite 8 if they get the right draw, but not more than that. Should be a fun March.

Yeah, Louisville is criminally underrated.

I don't understand how they aren't in the top 10. Heck they might be top 5. They are going to be a very tough out in the tournament. Oh and Harrangody, I am sure I butchured that name, is awesome. 40 and 17 as a sophomore against David Padgett.

answer:

senior david padgett went down in the second game to a fractured kneecap. senior juan pelacios was out with a severly sprained ankle. sophomore derrick caracter was suspended BY THE TEAM for violating team rules for a game against purdue and has essentially been in the doghouse since that game (which we lost by the way in conseco for the wooden tradition). as a result of that we have losses to byu (in the las vegas invitiational), dayton and purdue out of conference. we lost to cincy and at uconn and seton hall in conference. what hurt our national perception was that byu loss. we had no real inside presence and also no senior leadership. we lost that game at the end. same thing with purdue. no senior leadership and no inside game. we had earl clark (5) playing the center position when he is more of a slasher. dayton was pretty much the same thing- no senior leadership. cincy was david's first or second game back and we lost the game late. seton hall was just one of those crazy games where one player was going out of his mind hitting shots. uconn is just uconn at home. i would say that of our 6 losses, 4 of them would not have happened had everyone been healthy and we would have been at least number 2 or 3 before the seton hall game.

i'm not talking as wild and crazy unrealistic cardinal fan here, and i'm pretty realist-to-pessimsist on my team. i think we really are that good.

Well, I think Louisville ends up with a 2 seed.
