Bayless is so unloved.

I do like Bayless, but he's no Eric Gordon.

Gordon- 21.7 points, 3.2 boards, 2.5 assists, 3.4 turnovers. 46% FG, 86% FT, 40% 3FG. 57% effective field goal.

Bayless- 21.1 points, 2.8 boards, 4.4 assists, 3.0 turnovers. 49% FG, 85% FT, 45% 3FG. 58.1% effective field goal.

Gordon may be better defensively but Bayless has been the better offensive player.

I haven't seen enough of Bayless's defense to comment. Gordon, when he wants to be, is an absolute shut-down defender. He still doesn't move his feet all the time and thus reaches. He grabs and fouls a lot. But his defense has led directly to a couple IU wins.

Offensively, those numbers are basically the same. The assists (and I imagine the turnovers) favor Bayless, but you have no idea how many times the pitiful trio of Mike White-Thomas-Stemler have blown bunnies. I honestly think if those three could make wide open layups Gordon would be averaging another assist. Overall, besides maturing, Gordon is a pretty complete player -- except ball-handling. He is, at this point, a poor dribbler.

Oh, and I said before the season that Bayless was better than Mayo.

Has anyone read through the first few pages of this thread to see how close/off some of the fan predictions were for their teams?

Ouch :(

I was right there with you Flames, feels like getting kicked in the newts, don't it?

Sure does. But right now, we're playing the best basketball in the conference with maybe the exception being Bradley. I still really like our chances in the conference tournament.

I expect SIU to win the conference tournament. Have for awhile, in fact. They've been the best team in the league for years and never win the tournament, it'll be fitting they win this year.

I will not let myself get too high on this team, color me skeptical. Bone and Clemmon's production is just not consistent enough from the two spot for me to be happy with this team. It would be an amazing triumph to win the conference tourney with the way this season has gone.

jeebus, how did we lose to KSU? They just lost to freaking Nebraska.

We better cornhole those clowns when they come to Lawrence.

This team has two personalities, and I truly don't understand it. Horrible effort tonight, plain and simple.

Oh, no question. I'm not sold on this team by any stretch of the imagination. But look around the rest of the Valley and you have to be somewhat optimistic that we'll have a good chance at pulling out the conference tournament in a couple of weeks.

Drake's lost 2 of their last 3. ISU lost on Saturday and nearly lost to Evansville tonight. And Creighton has been even more inconsistant than we have in conference play. With Ruffin back, Bradley is definitely a dangerous team and I expect them to roll all over us on Tuesday. Like us, they always finish the season strong.

I'm really excited to see how much Mullins has grown this season. He's been an amazing positive for us in a season filled with negatives. And Tyrone Green has finally found his role on the team and has played exceptionally well the last week to two weeks. Hell, he's even 2/2 from three point land in the last three games.

This is just the 4th time Illinois has trailed at the half all year. That's incredible.

Maybe we should have let McCamey play more than 4 minutes in the first half. He only had 18 points in the second half.

They're young, immature and don't have a coach. You didn't see inconsistency coming?

Hoping for a huge IU win tonight and also praying that this will be the last time I'll see Sampson on our sideline.

You keep winning and the administration will keep putting it off.

I don't think so. They are in CYA mode. If OSU hadn't been smacked down and forced to pay O'Brien a bunch of money, Sampson would already be gone.

I don't believe that for a second. O'Brien still hasn't seen a single penny from that settlement and according to many law experts, never will. The case is in appeal right now.

Was in appeal. OSU lost and has to pay O'Brien $3M. Do you believe me now?

that certainly was fortuitous timing for your side of the argument

I believe you, I also think you don't fire Sampson this Friday. You should, but you won't.

Wisconsin Badgers

Picked 3rd or 4th in the Big Ten.

Probable Starters:

Brian Butch

Joe Krabbenhoft

Marcus Landry

Jason Bohanon

Trevon Hughes

also return several other bench players.

Key losses include:

Alando Tucker (graduation)

Kammron Taylor (graduation)

Michael Flowers (undisclosed medical reasons, no timetable on his return)

Badgers look to be thin at guard but Bo is pretty good at mixing and matching his lineups. System based offense so that even though a majority of there scoring is gone the system is effective and the Badgers have just been able to plug guys in and keep the ball rolling. Won't win 30 games like they did last year but will probably be a better balanced team. Might surprise in the Big Ten but will probably finish right around where they are picked, and will be a middle (7-8) seed in the tourney.

Coach Ryan and his rendition of Soulja Boy:

Here was my analysis of Wisconsin at the beginning of the year. Not too bad of a prediction. Looks like they will finish a little better than I expected, anywhere from Conference champs to 3rd. and probably a 3-4 seed in the tourney when all is said and done.

yeah, mccamey real good. maybe better than deron, ultimately.

Bwhahaha, you cannot be serious. Williams led the conference in assists his freshman year and played point guard on a team that should have won a conference championshp(Typical Wisconsin call at Kohl). Williams was head and shoulders further along at the same point in his career than DMac. How can Illinois fans still underrate how good Deron Williams was for us?

Oh so he could ultimately be a top 5 point guard in the NBA. Got anymore orange koolaid predictions? I got Brain Randle becoming Lamar Odom, psycho. Also Williams was our best defender from day one. McCamye can't guard a chair.

Ok, sure thing. I guess being a fan of Deron Williams is a crime and unacceptable. Thanks for correcting me.
