He woke up, and is a Penn State basketball fan really talking about recruiting? Who is Penn States biggest recruit in basketball, John Amechi? Lol

guess you don't follow big ten basketball much. Jamelle Cornley and Geary Claxton will both be drafted. they may not stick, but they'll be drafted. Cornley has a better chance of sticking

Hell if hes counting 2 on Penn State illiniguy, you might as well count Pruitt as well.

i love how fans of a team that sucks so bad right now are still so self righteous. no wonder everyone hates Illini Nation

I love how fans of a team who finally win 7 straight games over absolutely terrible teams, think their team is suddenly good. No wonder nobody cares about Penn State basketball.

You have Jamelle Cornley and Geary Claxton in the NBA, but I don't follow Big Ten basketball. Good one. You are on a roll in this thread. Please keep going.

i wouldn't say that they'll both be drafted. one mock draft i saw (just the first one i found on google) has claxton in the second round and cornley undrafted. nba draft is only two rounds, and that includes four classes of college players along with foreign players. i do think that they'll both get invited to camps at the very least. neither guy is gonna be a real good scorer, but if they dedicate themselves to rebounding and defense, they can make a niche for themselves in the league. cornley's negative is his height (he's a forward and only 6'5") but he does have a wide body.

Cornley is a less talented Wayne Simien. How many pro games has Wayne Simien played in?

That Cornely will not be an NBA player.

cornely is only a junior. i doubt he goes pro this year. he's also recovering from an injury

Claxton is currently second in the Big 10 in scoring (behind Gordon) and rebounding (behind White). Cornley has a better body and could be dominating next year. He was also Freshman of the Year two seasons ago

Just because a guy does well at scoring and rebounding doesn't mean that he will be a pro. Lavell Blanchard from MU always did really well in those two categories and never played in the NBA.

doing well at scoring and rebounding probably gives him a better chance than someone who does neither

also, Cornely isn't in mock drafts because he's a junior, so stop telling me he won't be drafted

I think the absence of Afflalo puts UCLA a step below KU and Memphis. So far, I haven't seen anyone on that team fill his shoes adequately. Definitely a FF team, but they don't scare me this year like they did last year. That may change as Love continues to improve, though. I still think they're better than UNC, though.

He's already averaging 16.5/10.2 which are team highs and is shooting almost 60% from the floor. How much do you expect him to improve?

Also, doesn't Kansas play up-tempo basketball (maybe not as much) just like North Carolina? So if UNC is susceptible to a team that can control the tempo, which I think they are, isn't Kansas just as susceptible? I mean, this is the same Kansas team that got taken out by UCLA - a team that likes to control the tempo - a year ago and they lost Julian Wright from that team. I'm not sold on Kansas. Sure, they'll probably roll through the Big 12 again but I don't think they're as good as Memphis, UNC (who is better at playing the same style of game), UCLA and maybe Georgetown.

EDIT: I'd probably have Memphis and UNC 1-2 in some combination with Kansas behind them.

C'mon, dude. Totally different styles. Kansas plays uptempo off of defense and steals; otherwise we're a screen and roll or high/low offense, not a run and gun. The basis for our game is defense, though. And it's reflected in low OPP FG% and high OPP TO. UNC looks to run off made baskets. If you slow the game down or get back on D, you take away their offensive game.

This article will explain why you should be far more impressed with KU than you are.

As for last year, Julian was good for us as a zone buster, but he also was inconsistent. We have a more traditional team this year with more defined roles, and I think it helps us in the long run. And Collins was injured in the UCLA game, which didn't help. If we stay healthy, we're the best team in the country.

Lunardi as of yesterday: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology

His four #1s are North Carolina (East/Charlotte), UCLA (West/Phoenix), Memphis (South/Houston) and Kansas (Midwest/Detroit).

IU v. Pitt would be a nice 2nd round game. Of course, the Midwest is the toughest region with the best 2 seed (Wash St.), at least the 2nd best 2 seed (Butler), and Pitt who would be a 3 seed if healthy.

Some dangerous 7 seeds in that bracket.

A once great thread is dying a painful death.

Anyway, IU at UM tonight. No Basset, again. I'm not feeling great about their chances at a Big Ten title without him. I'm a big fan of Crawford, but they need Basset back soon. Also, Sampson is supposedly telling Gordon to be more aggressive with his shot. I'm curious to see how he responds.

There were too many possessions against Iowa where neither Gordon or White would touch the ball. That needs to stop.
