Wisconsin beat the mighty Savannah St. yesterday. Despite the competition, Wisconsin has surprised me so far. I tought their scoring and guard play could be worriesome with the loss of Kam Taylor and Tucker. But so far, Trevon Hughes has really stepped up and looks to be one of the primary scorers. If he continues his early success, I could see the Badger team really surprising in the Big Ten.

Illinois/Hawaii at midnight. Kinda worried.

You mean that 8 point beatdown of Northeastern at home didn't inspire confidence?

Given the start time, I take it the game is in Hawaii? Travel + time + on the road would be my biggest concern.

Yeah, in Hawaii. Not a bad road trip for a team to take, especially with the weather like it is right now in Illinois.

EDIT: My biggest concern is that Illinois doesn't have anyone that can score, consistently.

Bingo, a better MSU team lost bad there recently, and I could see it happening to us too.

My team is Marquette, we made first round exits each of the last two years and look to do the same again. Our three core guards are really talented but they can't shoot, and we have no post presence. We look an awful lot like the Bulls.

ND will continue their buzzsaw non-conference schedule tonight at the Paradise Jam tournament, which features such powerhouses as Georgia Tech, UIC, Baylor, Wichita State and tonight's Irish opponent, Monmouth.

I wouldn't get too cocky we (UIC) are pretty good... we've already beat Bradley.

crap, we're getting killed by Winthrop at the moment.

Darren Collison won't be available for the Maryland game on Monday after all. :( Won't be available for the final of the CBE if UCLA beats Maryland too. Oh well, great experience for Russell Westbrook at the point and experience for guys like Dragovic and Stanback too since they wouldn't get this much PT if Collison and Roll were healthy.

How is Bohannon fitting in this year?

I'm not cocky, my smart-ass comment was more directed at our athletic department that refuses to let us play a regularly scheduled game with a good team this year (other than Kansas State).

I really want to play Winthrop. I want revenge on them.

Exactly. This game should be a concern for the Illini. This is the defintion of a trap game.

memphis came out like gangbusters against uconn. thanks to some T's and generally sloppy play uconn is back in it. it seems that memphis has 5 guys who can score at any time and 5 more on the bench.

Notre Dame 76, Monmouth 33...wow. Outscored them 39-8 in the second half. Next up: Baylor on Sunday night for round 2. Winthrop really needs to beat GT so we can get a piece of them in the final.

Told you. Thankfully, they were able to come back from a 12 point deficit and pull it out.

Mizzou crushed Southern tonight, up by 30 at the half and extended for a 40+ point win. Big game in KC on Monday, how well they acquit themselves against Michigan State and UCLA/Maryland will say a lot for how the rest of their brutal non-con will go.

I think this game will really help them in the long run. I think it already showed Weber that DMac has to play the bulk of the minutes. Meachem is just not good enough to play at this level.

The sooner Weber finds this out, the better. I can't stand Meachem, so anything to get him out of the rotation is fine with me.

I've always thought Wisconsin would have a very good, and perhaps surprising year to some. They still have a lot of talent left over, and, in my estimation, the best coach in the Big Ten. I think they finish third (give or take depending on schedule) and are a top-25 team.

I think that's a big win for the Illini. It's not sexy, and Hawaii likely won't be high in the computer rankings. However, they are extremely tough to play at home (especially for out-of-conference teams) and the time difference from traveling makes things difficult. It's not necessarily a resume builder, but it's a game that a lot of teams lose -- and have. IU got smoked there awhile back when UH had Anthony Carter.
