I understand more now what your saying, but could you explain to me how D-Lee mattered more to the Cubs than Soriano and Ramirez, and how did Soriano matter more to the Cubs than Ramirez. I just don't understand how Ramirez had the least impact of the three.

I think he said it earlier in the thread (and if he didn't I believe this would be why) but it's because DLee played in 150 games to Soriano's 135 and Ramirez's 132. Rammy's OPS was .915 while Lee's was .913 but that .002 point difference is more than negated by Lee's playing 18 more games.

Additionally Lee's was OBP heavy. Still not sure I agree, as I see a big advantage to Ramirez on defense.(Above average defense at 3B outweighing great defense at 1B((That and Lee's defense seemed down to me this year(((untrusting of defensive metrics)))))) Point being I think it's far easier to find an average fielding 1B putting up replacement level offense than it is to find an average fieldign 3B putting up replacement level offense.

Lee's defense is better than Ramirez's over average at the position, to the point where the difference in playing 1b/3b isnt much.

Using +5 defense for Rammy and +15 for Lee, the FRAR would be 25 for Lee and +27 for Rammy.

What I'm think of is scarcity. Filling the 3B position is more difficult than 1B. Whereas if Lee were to play 3B and Ramirez 1B would Lee still have more value defensively?

honestly the idea behind this would be that on average a 3B moving to 1B who is a 0 3b, usually becomes a +12 1B. A 0 1B moving from 1B to 3B usually becomes a -12 3B.

The value is already taken care of (I used VORP to do that)

Meph, if you don't mind me asking what do you do? Are you in college or do you have a job? I am blown away at your intelligence level. No I am not in anyway being sarcastic either. But I still think ARod was the most valued player of the year by far. :P

Maybe you missed my question from the bottom of the page a couple pages ago, but I am curious to know how far down the first reliever would be on your list.

It looks a little similar to WS / team wins, but the pitchers seem higher on your list than they are on the WS list.
