Seriously, is this the worst October ever?

I know Selig and his little imp Dane Cook have been trying to sell this turkey since July, but so far it's been a nonevent.

Not one decent series in the DS. Not. One. Every series was basically one team crapping the bed and the other team letting them do exactly that.

The NL is crap. These teams ARE CRAP! Can someone call someone, do some voodoo rituals, hold a seance, SOMETHING -- to get a decent team or two into this godforsaken league?!?

The NLCS is a joke. Is anyone even watching? I doubt it. So far it's an exercise in why when a crap team like Arizona makes it this far it's a travesty, and hurts interest in the game. At least we know Selig isn't fixing games in the NL, otherwise there's no way in hell he would have let these bozos into the NLCS. His league is losing millions in fan interest, merchandise sales, you name it.

The ALCS -- maybe this one can rescue the playoff season. I don't know, maybe.

Hahah. When the most exciting moment in the playoffs is an invasion of freshly hatched GNATS in Cleveland? Yeah. That's when "Actober" becomes "ACKtober."

At least we know the Cubs weren't the only team to embarrass themselves this playoff season. Basically all of MLB looks like a bunch of clowns.

Worst ever.

i watched exactly NOTHING of these two series.

I can't recall not watching anything like this year. Hell, I only watched one of the Cub playoff games (thank God for Disney World.)

Seriously, last night's ALCS games was one of the best games I have ever seen.

So... no.

The Rockies have won like 60 games in a row. If that doesn't excite you, something is wrong with you, not the playoffs.

No, this October sucks because the Cubs actually made it and flamed out after three games.

October is much more interesting when either your team makes a long run or your team doesn't make it at all as opposed to what happened with the Cubs this year. The threads for all of last year's playoff series were so much longer than the ones we have this year (sans the 3 Cubs games, of course).

I disagree. It doesn't excite me when that team is winning 60 games in a row on the backs of opposition that simply doesn't have what it takes to provide even a small challenge for them.

And the fact that a team could be basically .500 all year then turn it on like this with nobody to even pose a small threat just speaks volumes about how horrible the NL is.

I'll bet this NLCS is one of the worst rated in history. If that means there's something wrong with all of us? Then so be it.

See, this is where being a degenerate gambler comes in handy. You can even turn a WAC or MAC thursday night turd of a college football game into some interesting stuff.

I'm watching because it's playoff baseball and I like baseball. You've missed some good games by avoiding it.

I'm sure I saw some playoff baseball last year, but all the games seem way late this year, and I'm not going to stay up through them. I do get the feeling that reading the recaps the morning after is the best way of seeing some of the games, though I might make an effort to see Wake's start.

It means it's on cable.

And all this indignation about expansion teams and teams not from huge markets playing playoff baseball is Yankee-esque. It's disgusting. Teams not from a top 5 market are only their to be fodder for big city teams?

Some people really have problems with the franchises in the NLCS. Who wants to watch the Dbacks and the Rockies? Lame franchises that haven't even existed for 30 years combined.

I disagree with this, but I'm still not really caring whats happening. If these two teams were any good I'd be watching! If this was the 2001 Diamondbacks vs. the...well I guess the Rockies have never had a great team. Either way, I'd watch it.

Wait, that's not what I'm trying to say. If I said that I didn't mean it that way.

I had no problem whatsoever with the DBacks in '01 when they were a real good ballclub and beat the Yanks.

The Rockies just threw Josh Fogg. And he dominated. DOMINATED.

It's crap baseball. Craptober indeed. How good are the Rockies? Well, they're good enough to beat ballclubs so fundamentally flawed they wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs in a year where the NL was decent. Doesn't have much to do with the fact that they are an expansion team.

As for the Yanks and Angels -- shame on you. Shame on you for laying a huge egg to what should have at least been halfway decent baseball in the DS round in the AL.

I'm hoping the ALCS will rescue this mess. Maybe the WS will be exciting, I don't know. I'll give it a chance.

Colorado is pretty good. They outscored their opponents by 100 runs, and had the 2nd best regular season record in the NL. Their pitching is similar to the Cubs, in that they've got a good amount of solid pitchers, without any real superstuds, and a very good bullpen. Factoring in ballparks, I would say they are similar to what the 2007 Cubs would be, if the Cubs could score runs. They had a team OPS+ of 104 (to the Cubs 97), and a team ERA+ of 110, to the Cubs 113. They are a young team that has been built up on the strength of a farm. I think they are very enjoyable to watch.

If the Cubs actually had a decent lineup, they would probably be battling in the NLCS this year, and nobody would be complaining. Why? Because of the backstory. That's the only thing. This isn't a case of bad teams going deep, it's a case of people complaining about the name on the front of the jersey. It's all about the expansion stigma, and not the baseball itself. I find them pretty intriguing. A bunch of sweeps is disappointing, from a drama point of view, but I think Colorado is good enough to give the AL a run for their money.

If the Cubs had a decent lineup they'd be an actual good team, and then the whole dynamic would be changed. But they didn't. And neither did the Phillies. And now the DBacks are finally exposed for the crap that they are.

I disagree that this is anti-expansion snobbery. Vehemently. This is bad baseball antipathy.

Right. People don't hate Michigan because of their ugly helmets but they do hate the ugly helmets.

The D'Backs couldn't sell out their home playoff games. They have to be the worst 90 win team in MLB history. They somehow have owned the Cubs for their entire existence. The fact that they're an expansion team that's already won a WS is just a garnish.

Worst.

MLB.

Playoff Season.

Ever.

I agree. This is the worst year I can recall. Out of 7 total series, there was only 1 worth watching.

This year's postseason had only 4 games over the minimum. The last two years left something to be desired, after the amazing postseasons of 2003, 2004, and 2005.
