The Cubs shouldn't have to rely on the Padres. In fact, they should count on the Brewers winning out.

Why should we expect a team to go 7-0 to end the season?

I'm not sure he was actually saying he expects them to. I think he was saying the Cubs just need to take care of their own business and not have to worry about what the Brewers do.

Yes. I don't think the Brewers will win out, but it's certainly possible. The Cubs just need to worry about going 4-1 in these last five games and then it won't matter what the Brewers do. Everything is set up for the Cubs to win the division.

I'm not too worried about the Brewers winning out as they only have 2 win streaks of 5 or more for the entire season, unless I am miscounting.

I saw that too, which is why I'm pretty sure they'll drop one somewhere. I just don't think it will be more than 1 game.

The Brew are a .645 team at home. You'd find it to be a miracle for them to play .600 ball, and are convinced they'll play .800

If the crew drop 2 more games, you won't raise your head to the sky and cry "hallelujah!"? That's what I meant.

Peavy only threw 95 pitches last night so he should be ready to go Sunday on three days rest if necessary.

I don't think I understand why he threw that many.

Padres had a 7 run lead after 5 innings. Could have pulled him after 5 and about 25 or so less pitches.

You can't predict baseball. Who would have thought the hapless Cards would drill MILW last night?

I would have needed to predict that Yost would drill Pujols before I could predict that the Cards would drill MILW

Such a Dusty move.

I think we are missing just how important tonight is for the Brewers with their healthy ace going. A loss puts the Cubs within 1 day of clinching as well.

Dusty would have left him in for the eighth.

That's excellent.

Just win tonight. A 2 game lead with 3 to play is okay with me.

No matter what occurs, winning tonight is the most important thing right now.

Told all of my clients I was a huge Padres fan for this weekend, and this weekend only. Guess I lied. Who cares what the Padres do this weekend?

Technically tonight was part of the weekend. :D
