Dude, no excuse for this team not to be 162-0. Fire Hendry. Fire Lou. Teams should just fall down for the Cubs, why do they even have to play the games? They're done, toast, lifeless. Bring up some minor leaguers. Show me some guys that care!

Look, nobody said we're totally gonna win this game, Cubs are awesomest, gonna win the next 8 world serieses. They were just pointing out that you and others were being spazzes saying the season was over because of this game, and that there's no way we could possibly come back from an insurmountable 4 run deficit with only 7 innings to go!!

 

Considering your track record on calling games over, smart money probably is still on the Cubs winning the game. But that's cool, you can crow about us drinking cubbie kool aid and how you knew this game was over and the team doesn't care/is complacent/went out partying/is too young/inexperienced/whatever cliche you want to use to say they won't win because of the uniform they're wearing. And hopefully there'll be a few game threads the rest of the year where people like me aren't here to call you out on your crap.

Who the heck cares, I am being wildly irrational right now, but I know that 20 minutes after the game is over, I will start to think normally again. Game threads are a forum for irrational thought. If you don't like irrational thoughts and want to discuss the game, that's fine just gloss over the bad posts.

I don't think the hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing is going to do anything.

 

Except maybe give us ulcers at an early age.

 

Maybe we aren't a playoff team, I don't know. I do know if the Cubs can't find a way to win a few games against the Marlins and Reds they certainly don't deserve to face the NL's best in the playoffs.

 

If the Crew can catch us, hats off to them they deserve and we gave it away.

because they are playing beyond terrible. 3 baserunners, impatient hitting against a pitcher with a 1.60+ WHIP this season.

 

Teams usually play pretty terribly in a good amount of the games they lose. It's the nature of baseball.

 

There is no excuse for some of the things they have done tonight. Leadoff walk followed by Soto swinging at the second pitch almost at his shoes and grounding into a DP is one example.

I don't know... it just seems like whenever the Cubs play somebody who has a ERA of 3.50 or less, they seem to do well.

 

Yet, it's a whole new ballpark when they face a guy who has a ERA of 5.00 or greater, yet that person looks like Walter Freaking Johnson.
