Yep. Just heard it too. I don't know what he's thinking with that. That would be Hill's turn in the rotation. Hopefully Thursday doesn't matter at that point.

It may still matter, but hopefully will "matter less".

1. Marshall should pitch.

2. Oy. Hopefully this thing is clinched before then.

3. Of course, I know that there needs to be at least one start from the #5 slot, and this allows Lou to set the rotation for Zambrano, Hill, Lilly to close the season -- if necessary.

Well at least this helps my chances that Saturdays game in Cincy will still mean something, and if it does about 10 of us from my bowling league are heading on a road trip.

Lou had decided early on that Hill was going to be pushed back to the final weekend, and the final start of the season by the #5 options was going to be Thursday. Nobody knew who that starter was going to be though until now.

Marshall hasn't gone above 85 pitches since July, a span of 8 starts. His arm almost has to be worn down because a couple of those starts he got taken out in strange situations. He also has been pretty terrible in August and in his limited innings in September

Because of that, I don't mind them not starting Marshall. I would have started Hart over Trachsel, but it's a close enough decision that going with the veteran doesn't make me upset. Hopefully they'll keep Trachsel on a very short leash (and Marshall can come in and relieve if Trachsel struggles early).

Please get Trachsel out quickly if he sucks and go to Marshall. I don't want to watch old man Steve give up 5 runs wondering if Marshall could have been better.

Ugh...the Cubs are 0-3 when I attend games this year. I am in for Tues and Wed in Miami. I think I may skip Thursday's game now that Traschel is pitching.

challenge...a win tonight and tomorrow would put them 76 losses with 8 to to play....tipping them back towards a straight .500 record.

By Thursday this whole affair could be over if the Cubs take care of business.

Hill still hurt?

Lou wants Hill Lilly Z for the last 3

Ok, good to hear he's healthy.

Im not worried about the Marlins. Usually, teams save the real spoiler ball for the contender in their own division, and would use this series to try out some of their call ups. At least I hope so. I can easily see the Brewers sweeping the Cards, not because LaRussas out to get us, but because without Pujols, which is likely, the Cardinals are worse than that other team from Missouri.

this is the game i am thinking of going to

it will be my first ever cubs game and bloody trachsel is starting...

i am on the fence and i said i wouldn't decide until early next week if i was going to go or not

If the Cubs play like they should against the Pirates and the Marlins and at least win both series, I don't have a problem with this. Of course, what the Brewers do in the meantime should weigh heavily on Lou's final decision between now and then, no matter how well the Cubs do. If the Brewers keep pace and are are within 2 games or less, please don't. Hell, start Gallagher if you're so worried about Marshall. Just no Steve except for relief in a blowout.
