1-8....3-7...4-6
2-7....4-6...5-5
3-6....5-5...6-4

6-3....8-2...9-1
7-2....9-1...10-0

If we just go 5-4, it's all but locked up. I'm starting to get excited, someone pinch me.

It was posted. I can't find it though. The numbers have now become slightly more daunting for the Crew since they lost tonight.

I think 6-3 seals the deal. I could see the crew winning 7 of 10, but no more with that bullpen and the opponents they are facing.

The '9 games left' thread.

Yea, I'm an idiot. I was just really excited because I got home, checked the score, checked the meltdown on brewerfan.net and posted.

Once again, my apologies. No one's told me I'm dreaming yet though...

Don't get excited. Remember, this is the Cubs.

If we cant take at least 2 from the Pirates, 2 from the Fish, and 1 from the Reds we dont deserve to win.

It wasn't looking so great last night when we were down and the Brewers were up. I won't get excited until they clinch it.

How many times this season could we have built a big lead just by treading water against bad teams, and look where we are now.

And should the Cubs get close to clinching anything this season, a division or more; anyone who begins to count down outs on the board should be banned till the end of the game with the post being deleted within 60 seconds.

What a life it is being a Cubs fan.

I feel sorry for my 1 year old neice who i'm turning into a Cubs fan.

Does that qualify as child abuse?

I watched that game with a guy I was stationed with at the time (a Brewer fan, oddly enough), and he was counting down from 12 houts. I kept yelling at him to stop. He finally did, but only because...

Nevermind, something is stuck in my eye.

Point is, I completely agree. Counting down outs needs to be a bannable offense.

Cubs go: 2-6 Brewers to tie/win: 4-5/5-4

Cubs go: 3-5 Brewers to tie/win: 5-4/6-3

Cubs go: 4-4 Brewers to tie/win: 6-3/7-2

Cubs go: 5-3 Brewers to tie/win: 7-2/8-1

Cubs go: 6-2 Brewers to tie/win: 8-1/9-0

Cubs go: 7-1 Brewers to tie/win: 9-0/impossible

Cubs go: 8-0 Brewers to tie/win: impossible

I think we are heating up at the right time, so I am guessing we go 6-2 in our final 8 games. This would make it impossible for the Brewers to beat us without the one-game playoff, and to get to the one-game playoff they would have to go 8-1.

Point is, I think we have this locked up.

baseballprospectus' page said we LOST ground last night after we won and Milwuakee won as well. How the hell do they figure that? We kept our lead, and the Brewers are running out of games to make up the lead.

Strange.

It's nowhere near over. Brewers go against JoJo Reyes and the Cards who have completely closed shop and are at home after tomorrow. The Cubs go against one of the top 15 pitchers this year and 2 teams that have given them trouble in recent history on the road after tomorrow.

2 1/2 would make it a lot more comfortable going into a stretch where 4-3 will be tough.

Still seems off because of the running out of another game, but, the Cubs beat a bottom feeder team, as they should have and the Brewers beat a better team that they were predicted to lose against.
