2-0 for the Cowboys!

I'm loving Jason Garrett's offense. The defense made some mistakes today, but got some big turnovers as well.

Go Cowboys!

I love that Barber is finally the feature back and not the 3rd down back. The pass defense has some work to do even with the int's today. Getting Newman back will be huge.

He's still splitting time with JuJo, but I think that works for us. If the Browns will lose enough, we can replace Jones with McFadden next season. :)

NBC digging out Athenaeum for cutting to commercial music is maybe the most esoteric selection I've heard from them, but they're on a mid 90s kick tonight, it seems

madden says he has no idea what the cornerback was looking at on the Moss TD after talking about the safety blowing the doubleteam and the fact that the cornerback was looking at the safety.

i'd love to see him try to coach a team.

If the patriots could run the ball, they'd be the best football team ever.

Yeah, and at this time last year the Bears were going 16-0 as the greatest team ever.

And in week 3 (I think) they discovered that if you had a decent fron 7, you could blitz rex to make him the worst quarterback in the league.

I don't think anyone's making a similar discovery about Brady any time soon.

You could always pull out a SB tape and watch him coach his team to a win of Super Bowl XI. :D

Did he just win the one Super Bowl? I can't remember how many his Raiders won.

Hopefully he was slightly less senile then

They'd need a better pass defense as well. Good QB's can really exploit their linebackers and secondary. The Patriots still run good enough schemes though that average or less QB's are absolutely befuddled by them, and that's what is happening tonight.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was just 1. They unfortunately ran into the Steelers several times in the AFCCG.

Good point. Those Steelers were ok if I remember right. :D

Thank you for helping to prove my point. NFL coaches will figure weaknesses out. It's week 2 -- way, way, WAY too early to proclaim any team great.

That said, even as a Colt fan, I do think the Patriots are the best team and Super Bowl favorites.

So you're comparing the bears using an unknown quarterback to the Patriots returning one of the best few teams in the league plus a bunch of star players? that seems preposterous.

Wow. Nowhere did say any such thing. The comparison is simply between what perception was after two weeks the past two years -- and last year it was way off. I'm saying calling any team great after two weeks is premature. Who's better between Grossman-Brady and Bears-Patriots is really irrelevant here.

you said "nfl coaches willfigure out weaknesses"

Well, why did they do it almost instantly against the bears yet have taken years to do it against the Pats? You didn't make a comparison, you made a statement about the ability of NFL coaches.

That was simply a supporting statement of my overarching point -- the fact that two weeks is insufficient to determine greatness. Perhaps I should've stated that it's but one reason two weeks doesn't tell you much; along with injuries, complacency, chemistry, fluke starts, etc. However, I don't think it was too difficult to discern that the coaching statement was rather innocuous to my greater point.

I wonder if Parcells wants to be the GM for the Chiefs. He can't do no worse than King Carl Peterson.

They're going to challenge the Raiders for last place in the AFC West this year. The two games between the two are not going to be pretty.

The Raiders are lot better than the Chiefs. The Raiders had today's game won until Mike Shanahan screwed them with the timeout. :(

They would have won it in regulation had Josh McCown not overthrown Jerry Porter when he had two steps on Dre Bly and could have cruised into the endzone with 32 seconds left in regulation. Any decent quarterback hits Porter in stride. Hell, where Porter was on the field, even if McCown underthrows it and Porter gets tackled, the Raiders are in position for a 35-40 yard field goal.

I can't really fault Janikowski as it's not an easy task to make back-to-back 50+ yard field goals especially after you make the first one and something like that happens with Shanahan calling a timeout.

Bleh.

That was such a heartbreaking loss for the Raiders. Great T.O. call by Shanahan. But I was really pulling for Oakland. I don't know why -- I guess I just like to see the underdog win when I don't have a real rooting interest in the game.

Hits off the *TOP* of the goal post from 52 yards out. Lordy. I think they showed a shot of Kiffin and all he could think to do was laugh. I don't think I blame him.
