My roommate came in to tell me one of our basketball players got arrested for drugs just as that play was happening, and I was too busy yelling and jumping around my room to notice him.

OMG...HUGE.

And (just barely)...

Ryan put the Astros in the

For everyone calling that lucky, weren't we UNLUCKY with the kick off the 1st base bag?

WTG Dempster, great pitch, great turn, way to cover 1st.

Lou was pumped up!

The Dempster bashing is a freaking joke.

some guys will never win with folks on this board.

Also, I don't think Lou was unhappy, I think he was pumped. The man is crazy and doesn't smile in the first place so judging his happiness is tough.

In hindsight, the jam itself wasnt really Demps fault. The Loretta hit was a fluke and the Lamb triple should have been a single had Pie played it right.

Exactly. And if people want to argue that a closer then has to deal with those flukes, well, he did. I think these are the kinds of closes that, contrary to the drama, show how good Dempster can actually be in the role.

And even the walk came back to help in the end! :D Just don't make a habit out of it!

I can't believe all the talk of this being a lucky win, and us not deserving it. I've come to expect the Dempster bashing, but seriously lucky??

The ball bounced off freakin first base!!

Wow, what an ending!

Great game by Rich Hill, and awesome job by Dempster to get out of it and preserve the win.

Lou was pumped up after the game. First place!

Remember, a lot of closes aren't like this...most of them aren't. The high drama ones just stick out. Marmol is much more useful coming in between the 6th and 8th innings, where the pressure is usually MUCH higher.

The amount of support for this team in the game thread is pathetic. It's the world's biggest pessimism party. Obviously it's not everyone, but enough that's it's really become unbearable at times.

Completely agreed-the first ball should have been an out, the second one should have been a double at most, and Dempster did a great job of pitching out of the jam.

BTW, to answer the question earlier, Floyd was taken out and Jones did slide over to RF in the 8th.
