I'm usually one of the last guys to pull the race card, but I definitely think racism had something to do with the LaTroy and Jacque hate. I felt really bad for LaTroy because it was his hometown team, but he at least had an attitude about things that made him a little harder to like. I've always liked Jacque personally for the way he handled himself,(remember it was Dusty that brought up the racist letters, not Jacque) but he went even further to cement himself for me when he sat down and shut up the 2-3 week period where he was pinch runner extrodinaire. He said all the right things, never publicly raised a fuss and was a class act about it. I'm ecstatic to see him succeeding lately.

 

I have never been happier for a ball player than Jones right now. The guy has been a team guy even through all the garbage. Of course Eckstein gets a hit....

I still don't get the race card at all. They are athletes they should know that there will be a few jerks in attendance and will be screaming nonsense if they play badly. They should just ignore it, can't do anything about it. A racist remark is basically only as bad as saying to someone you suck or something. I don't believe there is that much racism going on nowadays. Just some black people trying to make a big deal out of nothing.

I'm no mod so continue the convo unmoderated. But I am going to drop it because theres a Cubs game going on and racism is a volatile topic that I don't feel like keeping going in a game thread

Hey how about we table the discussion of the definition and reality of racism for after the game, huh?
