Our offense isn't good enough to hide him anywhere. Soto certainly could be a AAAA player but what do we have to lose? Why won't Hendry just get rid of Hill? I don't get it.

The reason given for the reason he's been on the team this long has been that the pitchers love throwing to him. Whether or not you believe CERA is a legit stat, the pitchers have performed better with him, and he is miles better defensively than any other catcher the Cubs have played this year, outside of Blanco.

 

At this point, August 16th, there's no point in sending him down just to bring him back up in 2 weeks. Kendall's hitting, he's gonna catch everyday unless it's a day game after a night game. Might as well have Hill catching once a week in the majors, and have Soto getting his ABs in Iowa. Of course, that's not to say he should have been up this whole time.

He's absolutely brutal. It's pretty funny to see Soul's sig everytime I see a Hill AB because the inevitable is coming. I don't know what this organization sees in Hill when we clearly have a better option in Iowa right now. Please just DFA him and end this stupid experiment.

I have no idea why he's still here. Soto should obviously be up and Hill should be gone. It's about as mind-boggling as to why Soriano isn't in RF (when healthy).

 

The only justification -- however spurious it is -- for keeping Hill was how well Zambrano pitched to him. But he's not even catching Zambrano anymore, Kendall is. So now I have no idea what possible justification there is for Hill on the roster.

I don't think CERA was ever in favor. There are just way too many variables for the stat to be insightful.
