I know Sandberg is in there for mostly sentimental reasons, but I'd probably have Musial or DiMaggio in there before Sandberg. Maybe Rose, too, except I just don't like Rose.

 

EDIT: Joe Jackson also.

 

Musial, Dimaggio are OF. Sandberg was my utility INF. Although Musial could certainly contend with Mantle for the utility spot in my white-boy OF.

Not very. Harimoto is the only guy with 3,000 hits (as far as I know), Ichiro is well..Ichiro, and Kadota has 567 HR's with 2000+ hits. I put them all over Matsui, who only hit 332 dingers in Japan.

Oh was amazing. Led his league in HR's 15 times (13 consecutive!), won the triple crown twice, was a five time batting champ, and his 868 career HR's speaks for itself.

Yea, it is, but still not enough to top the 3 guys I selected for the OF. I'm also biased due to the extreme success of Ichiro coming to the states. Obviously Matsui's been successful too, but not like Ichiro or even to a lesser extent, Daisuke.

Considering who else is on the team, Rickey's ability to steal 100+ bases consistently is perhaps more valuable than Barry's contributions.

Depends? If we are using the numbers Bonds has put up the last 6 to 7 years than no. If we are going to use the Pre-Steriod Bonds than yes I would make an arguement that Rickey was as good. I also was just saying they could fight over who gets to play LF as the other would have to play right. Which from Ole Miss original team would leave Aaron as the Fourth OFer and Griffey off the team.

The more I think about it, I'm not sure I'd put Aaron in my starting OF.

 

Barry's defense and speed trumps Aaron, while at the same time putting up similar power numbers as Aaron: (Bonds 162 game avg: 41hr, 109rbi, 182 ops+, Aaron: 37hr, 113rbi, 155 ops+)

 

Griffey's defense also would warrant him being in my starting OF.

 

The battle, in my mind, would be between Henderson and Aaron as my utility OF.

 

With Murray, Bonds, Mays, and Banks on the team, I've got more than enough power. So I think I'd go with Henderson.
