I'm starting to have serious doubts as to whether this team has what it takes to continue to stay in the race down the stretch. Winning a series against the 4th place Astros would certainlyhelp alleviate those some.

Last night was absolutely pathetic. This offense in lifeless. I think Lou needs to go on another tirade. I'd like to see a base thrown this time.

In that Piniella fluff piece on Cubs.com a week or so ago, they were saying that Lou's back was really sore after throwing a base, so he probably wouldn't do that one anymore :(

No problem. He could just tuck the bag under his arm and walk off the field with it, ala Lloyd McClendon.

The bats are due for a big game. Marshall just needs to keep us in it.

Standing pat at the trade deadline was a HUGE mistake.

If a deal was to be made he would've. He's shown this in the past when we were in contention.

I think it is a big mistake by Lou to not split up Hill and Marshall in the rotation.

How would you? You have three lefties. No matter what combo's you use two lefties would have to go back to back.

Not in most 3 game series.

The best you could do is RLRLL. Take that 5 man rotation through 1 series and you only have 1 lefty. But by the 2nd series, you go back to back. It's inevitable that lefties will throw back to back against the same team quite often throughout any period of time. You could cut reduce them by having one guy constantly going on 3 days rest, therefore constantly shuffling the rotation, but that's not very likely.

The thing is Hill and marshall are quite similiar, face it.

Lou is an idiot.

We'll be able to break up the LL back-to-backs once Prior returns ...

The only real similarity between Hill and Marshall is they both throw from the left side. Hill is a strkeout pitcher while Marshall pitches to contact.

Browse the game logs. There isn't much compelling evidence that Marshall is harmed by following Hill in the rotation.

Woody Williams is tied for the major league lead for HR allowed.

Chances of Cubs hitting a HR tonight = 0.00000000000000000000000001%

So is this your new "thing?"

I would guess so.

Get over Murton not playing, please.

I agree. I think Murton should be getting most of the PT also. Lou obviously doesnt like him. Hopefully Murton will be traded this offseason to a place that appreciates his abilities. I think its time for us Murton fans to let it go.

No Aram...Nice.

Not surprisng. Lou has given him many days off because of the knee problem. It hurts when he's not out there, but it would hurt a lot more were he to be injured again.
