Thanks guys. The coolest thing happened today. As I was entering the stadium to go to the game tonight, my cell phone rang. It was the producer for Fox and Company which is the local sports show on the ESPN radio station in Northeast Louisiana.

Anyway, they wanted to talk to me about this on the air, so I did a little ten minute interview in which we told their listeners how to vote and all. It was pretty cool.

is part of the "prize" for this a chance to chat with Len and Bob on the air after you sing?

I just casted one last vote and there were over 26000 votes...I hope you get to do this Vance!

wow, 26,000 compared to 3,800 yesterday. Can't really imagine a grass roots voting movement to get Elinore through

That part isn't mentioned, so I don't know.

Well, I know that Elinore was supported by Fark.com and Desipio...so it depends if we went more nuts than they did.

This just in: Vance N. from Monroe, LA has absolutely no life whatsoever. 30,000 posts on a message board--any message board???? 100,000 votes for Derrek Lee for the '05 ASG?????? A closet with Cubs paraphernalia??? $10 says that, by "paraphernalia," Vance means "Derrek Lee's jockstrap."

That might be an understatement.

100,000 internet votes < 1 message board post . . .

if the vote is for D-Lee and the post is a personal attack on a fellow cubs fan for being devoted.

So did Vance move on to the next round or what?

Cubs.com doesn't have winners listed for anything past Monday.

I wonder if they are using their complete editorial control over the voting to make a decision on this one.

come on already, when are they posting the winners?

That seems the million dollar question.

Maybe they're waiting for an investigation into voting irregularities. :D

C'monnnn. This is chicago. That is to be expected.

They ever figure out who won yet?

I think there is still voting to occur this week. And, I think someone/something said it'll be announced the 27th, iirc.

Before that. The 10 remaining finalists will have to go to Wrigley for the next round on that day.

All these changes happened after Vance's video showed up saying he stuffed the 2005 ASG ballot box. Coincidence I think not.

There's about zero doubt in my mind that the Vance movement inspired these changes. The spike in voter turnout on Vance's day was so clear even early in the day that mid-day on the 7th (when these changes took place, if I'm not mistaken) would have been plenty early enough to realize the problem and make a panic change toward a zero-transparence process.

There were enough of us stuffing Vance's box (giggety) of ballots and enough anti-nsbb types who were aware of the campaign that there was most likely a script running that day voting for someone else.

In all honesty, I hope this sparks a movement to take ASG voting out of the hands of the fans.

The disclaimer was there all along. It also was clearly spelled out in the packet we received when we first auditioned. I was always aware that the voting would only be a part of the competition. I don't think there's a scam here at all. I have no clue what the delay is in announcing the other winners, but in all fairness to the Cubs, they did not change the rules midstream. It was always stated as such.
