Can we get this back on track please:

"(Harvey's) been a lot more disciplined and not chasing as many bad pitches as when I saw him earlier in instructional leagues," Davis said. "His average is to be expected coming off of an injury and not getting regular at-bats. If we can get (Harvey and Dopirak) both going we can have some fun in this last month."

I'm going to guess that Ed Hansen is one of Vance's competitors for the seventh inning stretch thing.

EDIT

oops, to stay on topic, just make harvey a pitcher and be done with it.

They have to do it soon.

How long until Harvey switches to the mound?

Im hoping not much longer

I think he'll move to the mound during instructs.

Instructs start in late September, right?

I think we now know Dopirak's fate... someone should claim him if he is not traded. With all of his injuries and his recent "warm" streak, someone ought to think about him.

I feel that this was a bad time to DFA him. A lot of teams have space on their 40-man rosters at this point in the season thanks to injuries. The general rule in baseball is not to make any moves until you are forced to. We could have moved Blanco or Ward to the 60-day DL instead of DFA'ing Dopirak. We might not have had to DFA him at all this winter since we have some players leaving as free agents, trades, etc.

Hopefully, it won't matter. Dopirak will go unclaimed. He will return to the minors, have a so-so year, and bounce back next year when he is completely healthy and bulked up. After all, he isn't blocking anyone at first base!

Is it me or is Hendry a bad roster manager. It seems like every year something happens.

Maybe after you make an example out of Raisin...?

Well, that explains things. Sitting at the game last night, I wondered why Dope wasn't even on the bench. Thought maybe he got hurt again...while I think this was ultimately the right move to make, the timing of it is strange. Perhaps they wanted to get Clevenger some more playing time at 1st?

Assuming he clears waivers, he could be assigned right back to Daytona. This move really was just because they had to clear a 40-man roster spot when they decided to promote Patterson rather than Pie. I don't think it means the end for Dopirak (unless he's claimed by another team). I believe I read in another thread that the waiver period is 48 hours; if so this may really be nothing more than two days off for him.
