'i thought you guys called them "[expletive]"

No that's what we call Jim Edmonds........

I think that's as funny as anyone else, but do we really need to have slurs like that floating around in here?

Do you think it's as funny as me? 'Cus I don't think it's funny.

This game thread has brought me back to the ESPN message board days of overreaction and a general lack of baseball knowledge.

Why is that post called for?

Online box score shows Marshall with all 7 ER. Didn't a run score on an error? Just trying to figure it out. Meanwhile, I don't see for the life of me why Clemens was given only 3 ER, when the error in that game came with only one out and didn't have any affect on the next 5 runs really.

I can never figure out how ERs are scored.

According to ESPN's PBP on the Yanks-White Sox game, yes the error came with one out which means there should have been two outs. The next guy grounded into a fielder's choice which was the second out but it should have been the third out and the inning should have been over with the score 3-0. Therefore any run after that is unearned.

Technically, it's any run that scores after the inning should have been over. So the error can come with no outs but any runs that score with two outs are going to be unearned.

Okay, no, I didn't really think it was funny. It's just something you say.

Nice rip for Rock for a first timer (in the big leagues, though I've doubt he's batted even in the minors in a long while).

Burrell had a .299/.413/.552/.965 line at Wrigley coming into this game. We really should find a way to make him a Cub.

If anyone took on most of his contract, the Phillies would give him away for peanuts.

To put your question in another way, why is it uncalled for?

He's not calling out anyone in particular, just pointing out the lack of discretion in off-the-cuff comments that have no statistical backing. The general absence of such comments it supposed to be the big draw to reading and posting here.

Who put you in charge of pointing out posts or posters that you feel are unintelligent?

Thanks. I thought they only used that logic if there was already 2 outs and the supposed third out was the play with the error. Kind of like the 'can't assume a double-play' logic, I figured you can't assume the situation remains the same with an error on only one out.

Man, he's not trying to start a fight. This is exactly what he's talking about. I have no idea what's up with the negative vibes in here.

I'm always leery of "Player X has (these stats) career at Wrigley."

It means he hits Cubs pitching well. It doesn't mean he'd mash if he came here.

Jeff Blauser, anyone?

Oh come on. Vance says "Just win, bitches." before every game and nobody gives a rat's ass. All he said was "[expletive]"
