He loads the bases with nobody out, and gets out of it allowing just one run, and you guys are acting like the world is about to end. Jesus, get a grip.

Yes, it's awesome that he got out of it like he did, but he did look like crap a lot in that half inning. Definitely peaks and valleys with Mr. Hill.

He won't make it past 5 innings.

I think it says guys don't like playing behind Rich. He is slow, throws lots of pitches and really doesn't get the defense involved (Lots of K's and flyballs).

Oh really? Have you eve played baseball before?

Go ask a fielder how much they hate playing behind a Steve Trachsel type, then get back to me.

#2 - I said "Go ask a fielder". I have been told numerous times (and heard great baseball minds say) that playing behind a pitcher who is slow and doesn't get the fielders involved is very difficult. It is extremely hard to stay in the game and on your toes when you have someone like that on the mound.

Baseball is a game of rhythm. Now I'm not saying that this is 100% effective scenario because obviously it's not, but over the course of time I'd be willing to bet that pitchers like that tend to get a little less run support than faster pitchers.

Well, I don't necessarily think it's angst so much as it is just loss of focus.

But yes, a slow pitcher definitely hurts themselves defensively (more so than runs being scored for him).

So he/she is all over the place.

first, it was runs scored. Then it was don't like. Then it was errors.

So again, thanks for the irrelevent commentary.

the hell is your problem?

anyways read the quotes. hes saying fielders dont play on their toes and it allows more balls to get through. He's been pretty consistent on that part. It's something you can disprove as I've already stated. You, however, cannot disprove it using the correlation that you intended on running.

Too good to be true. Rich Hill is a not a mental giant out there.

yeah, studies have shown that dumb pitchers are more prone to wild pitches.

Watch him in person. He gets flustered, alot. I don't hate the guy, but showed tons of negative body language Friday night in Cincy. Pacing around the mound, shrugging his shoulders, putting his head down.

It doesn't have anything to do with intelligence, more like composure.

If Friday is a "bad" outing, then I'm not going to complain about Hill's composure or how he goes about his job on the mound.

Did I say it was a bad outing?

It was just a comment on his mannerisms. Things fall apart for him very quickly.

That's a matter of opinion. If there's a strong defensive catcher Hill might not have given up any runs that inning. As it stood he only gave up one, is that falling apart? How do you know that it's linked to his mannerisms? People are different, Hill may show outward displays of frustration in order for him to get over it and focus entirely on the next play.

can we get barrett back?

That combined line of .254/.292/.397 is so awesome. And it's even worse at SD: .250/.250/.321. No, I'm not a big Kendall fan, but I don't know how you can blame Kendall on that wild pitch. And Geovany Soto>>>>>>Barrett, Kendall, Hill.

Soriano belted a foul ball before making an out (somehow, I forgot what he did), and Fontenot flied out solidly to deep right field. Lee sent a gapper for a double, and DeRosa just walked. Moyer looks very mortal so far.

It is an assumption on my part. But it is an assumption based on what has been said/written of him in the past. Things like him having the tools but also needing the mental aspect in tune as well. Didn;t Rothschild make him read a whole book about the mental side of pitching?

 I love Z.

what did he do?

Joking around. Put on a mask after the foul ball to protect himself. He usually knows where the camera is.
