This is my favorite from the RealGM board:

I can't take it anymore. **** this POS team. They can't hold leads. They had this series set up so well to win it with the Cards hurting for starters. The relief pitchers blow. They just can't handle the pressure. They are going to blow this whole season, miss the playoffs, and then they will try to sell us how they had a decent year. This is complete BS. Fire Ned PLEASE. Something needs to change. A manager can only motivate a group of guys for so long and its obvious Yost can't do it anymore. His whole bag of motivational tricks is used up and his piss poor decisions can't be excuse any longer. Where is Harvey Kuenn when you need him?

trolling applies to the baseball boards as well as the basketball. Im not worried about you guys tho. You will choke it away. Its the Cubs its what they do. Choke.

That's a pretty good one, too. Aren't they the ones about to lose an 8.5 game lead in a little more than a month?

so, technically, we would be tied for first if tomorrow goes well, right?

Yep.

I guess right now the Brewers have three games in hand against the Cubs. So the Cubs would need to go 2-1 in those games to tie and 3-0 to win the division by one game.

So if the Cubs win tomorrow night with the Brewers idle, they would only have to go 1-1 to tie.

That's why I don't really buy into the "loss column" theory of looking at the standards. We still have work to do.

I like how Cards fans think they are going to win the division.

What is so crazy about that?

Seriously? The fact that the Cards beat the Brewers at home should come as no surprise. The Brewers suck on the road. The Cardinals still have Mike Maroth and Kip Wells in their starting rotation. They arent going anywhere with that pitching.

I don't think most of them actually think that.

Ive recieved 11 text messages from Cardinal fans since the game ended proclaiming" Cubs better watch their ass, cause we are on the move".

I just responded that the Cubs always watch their ass around the Cardinals, Edmonds scares them :D

I live in Pekin IL, its right in the heart of Cardinal/Cub country. There are alot of Cub fans in the Peoria area as well, but Id hate to give a figure on how split it really is in this area.

I can't wait to see the disappointment from Cards fans when Jocketty does nothing at the deadline. Or sells off a few pieces.

Most of my friends who are Cards fan realize the rotation won't take them far. But then, they have seen seemingly mediocre squads win before, so they are a bit confused by this team.

I might be evil, but i'm getting a kick out of this stuff at the brewers boards.

All that money appears to be pretty well spent. The Cubs look like they just bought themselves a division title. Even those pitchers they signed appear to be good purchases, better than Suppan the both of them. Here we are an organization that builds for years from rock bottom via the draft and player development, and then whoosh a last place Cubs team turns NY Yankees on us and spends 300 million to fly up to 1st in one year. I foretold this scenario before the season started and took TONS of heat for it. One unnamed poster felt fit to mock me for it many times since then. I laid this scenario out because what the Cubs did this past winter was potentially the worst thing that could possibly happen to the Brewers. No one wanted to hear it, but guess what...it just happened. When their sale goes through, the wallet will only get fatter. MLB may never have a salary cap, but no team should ever be able to spend in one offseason what the Cubs did this past winter. Taking a last past team and zooming past a young and devloping team with nothing more that a gigantic wad of cash and reckless abandon is demoralizing and in no way good for the game.

This guy sounds so sore....

It's entertaining, but at the same time, I sort of feel for them. They were really confident early on, and rightfully so, but since April, they're a .500 ballclub.

It sucks to be a small-market team and see your hopes dashed by some major-market team with a giant wad of cash. But boy am I glad the Cubs have a giant wad of cash. If only they truly used it properly...

As far as the wild card race goes, the Dodgers just lost to the Rockies and the D'Backs are down by two touchdown's to the Braves.

We'll be just 1 game out of the wild card after today :)

The Cubs/ Yankees comparison is ridiculous. The Cubs are only spending 99m. Don't get me wrong, that's a lot, but its only 3rd in the NL and 8th in baseball. The Yankees spend over twice as much as most teams, the Cubs spend 9m more than the Cardinals and 12 more than the Astros. And the idea that the Cubs spent 300m in the offseason is so stupid. Thats over the next 8 years, its like saying the Brewers paid Suppan $52m over the offseason. And finally, over half of the Cubs' current 25 man roster came from their system.

In conclusion, the Brewers can cry a freakin river.
