I know this isn't the best source, but I doubt the guy is just making this kind of thing up.

Steve Stone will be doing 6 sox games in the tv booth with Hawk in aug because of DJ will be taking time off because of his wife having a baby.

This should be interesting. Stoney is not a defend at all cost homer. I see some clashes coming.

As they said on the Sox board, I doubt he'll be joining in on the "YES!" during Hawk's home run call.

I'd be concerned if I was DJ. Him and Hawk easily form the worst commentary team in all of baseball, and it isn't even close. Edited by Soriano12

This could be amazing.

meh, you still have Hawk dragging down the broadcast, I don't care how good Stone is.

I think the potential for amazingness is about the pairing of personalities in Stone with Hawk, and has little to do with how good (or not) Stone is himself.

exactly. I'll be checking in for the clashes alone. Though I am in the camp of those who think pretty highly of Stone's ability

For the first time ever, I really hope WGN carries at least one of these Sox games. The entertainment value increases tenfold if the Sox get hammered in any of those games. Steve Stone's ability to discuss good baseball, regardless of which team is playing it, should push Hawk even farther over the edge.

Point noted. Though I don't expect him to call Hawk out or anything, considering he might want to do this full time next year.

Think Stone will do away with the "slider low and away will get him" since the Sox pitchers suck?

You might be able to sense the tension though. Like, prolonged silence after Hawk says something particularly homer-ish. I have a feeling we will at least be able to tell when Stone is biting his tongue.

Aww man, I always kind of hoped that they would just throw Stone in there in addition to Len and Bob, to spice it up. If Bob leaves there's no way we don't bring Stone back, but I'm not to sure he would leave.

So esentially they will have two "color" guys doing the game? Well I guess they already have that with DJ and Harelson.

The worst broadcast team in baseball, and that is saying something.

Yeah, DJ is definitely a PBP guy. Evidenced by the fact that he calls play-by-play.

Plus, they're bad, but definitely not the worst.

This should be interesting in a train wreck sort of way.

As a play-by-play guy, Steve Stone is a good color analyst. He just doesn't have the voice for it.

It will be interesting to see how Stone reacts to Hawk's blatant homerism and on-air pouting sessions. I'm sure he'll be a professional, but he's going to have to do a lot of talking to fill up the inevitable dead air when the White Sox stink up the field.
