I actually saw Dunn at Lambert (apparently for a connecting flight to Chicago... don't know why they needed a connecting flight though) and I asked him why he wasn't in Cincinnati and he punched me in the face.

I know this is a lie because if he puched you you'd be dead and unable to post this.

I would treat this rumor like a rumor from MLBTradeRumors.com.

Which is what you should do.

Wait are you saying the poster on BCB that made his first post on the site who claims to have an unnamed inside connection should not be trusted??

So you are confirming that you haven't heard anything about this?

I would be absolutely shocked if this actually happened. Trolls start trade rumors on blogs at every trade deadline. Did anyone check whether this was the blogger's first post (or one of them)?

He says it's his first post in the post.

To be fair, I am very impressed with the restraint shown by everybody here. I half expected this thing to balloon to 30 pages inside of 4 hours.

I think with LF pretty much filled (unless they jerk Soriano around even more, which I can't see happening) even the Dunn contingent have cooled a bit on him.

If Adam Dunn came to the Cubs, half of this message board would die of dehydration from wetting themselves.

I have a back-up pair of boxer shorts standing by.

There is very little chance that the originator of the rumor was anything other than a troll trying to get a rise out of some desperate fans. Claiming to have sources close to a major player, doing so in your first post, these things point to only one conclusion.

As much as everyone would like Dunn to come to Chicago, it's been going on for some 2-3 years, and it still has not happen.

I'm sorry, but I do not see this happening. If it does, then color me shocked.

I'd say it's been very restrained here.

Since you're here, I was wondering if you could let us know if Hendry has been in at all on Wily Mo Pena or Bobby Kielty. They seem like the kind of guys Hendry would acquire to help out in right, and I'd heard rumors at least of a deal falling through for Pena going to an unnamed team I thought could have been us.

I hadn't heard that such a deal fell through. Hendry and Co. no doubt are looking at both.

Alrighty, thanks Bruce!

??

All they do is link to other online articles and ESPN Insider stuff...

Like 3 years ago I remember they made up a bogus rumor but since then it's been like any other Prosportsdaily type of site.

I completely made something up and reported it to mlbtraderumors as if it were a done deal. It was posted ten minutes later.

I remember, but wasn't that a long time ago? I think they have new people running it, because i've went there about every morning this year and all of there rumors have links.

Tim Dierkes has run the site from its inception. He has guest posters run it when he is unavailable every once in a while. Tim also runs rotoauthority and writes "Waiver Wired" for rotoworld. At first he was really hit or miss. He did pull the Cameron and (sigh) Pierre trade before anyone else, but there were a lot of embarassing misses that tanked his credibility. Now hes taken to more of a "rotoworld for trade rumors" approach where he pretty much just posts links and goes on to explain in more detail and give his opinion. Everyonce in a while he'll have something off the radar from a source but after the first rough patch hes very sure to appropriate label the confidence he has in the substantiation.
