days off suck

They could've just put the extra game today and made it a 4-game series instead of a double header sometime later in the season.

We are owed a game with them?

Yes, there is a day-night double header on 9/15 at STL as makeup for the 4/29 Josh Hancock game that was postponed. The first game will be at 12:10 pm on WGN and the second game (originally scheduled for 2:55pm) will start at 7:10pm on CSN.

FYI, I'm sure one of the reasons why they didn't schedule the double header for this series is because the Cardinals are already playing a day-night double header with the Brewers on Saturday (7/28). That is a makeup for a game that was postponed on 4/13.

Also, isn't there something in the CBA that says teams can't play more than 20 days in a row. If so, that's why they couldn't reschedule the game for today.

If there is such a clause, I'd really like to know why we played something like 26 games in 24 days at the end of 2004 due to Hurricane Frances wiping out a Marlins series.

BTW, normally I'd assume a loss, but the Cubs have always smashed Kip Wells to my recollection.

Might be new to the CBA since they last negotiated.

I'm going to games 2 and 3 of this series....sure would be nice to have a series win wrapped up by Wednesday night.

I broke down in the middle of last week's winning streak euphoria and procured tix for all three games. They better not get swept now!

Oddly, I'll then be there on Saturday, rooting on the Cards against the Brewers. :?

Breaking out the Marquis jersey shirt Thurs night?

Oh hell yeah...2nd row of the LF Bleachers, on Wednesday night...if he's out there it'd be cool as hell if I could get him to sign it...Thursday I'm up stairs and we're bringing the kids...2 boys, under the age of 3....that ought to be fun...the older one will watch but I'm thinking Mom will have to take them to the kids area in the 3rd or 4th.

I've really thought hard about picking up a ticket for tomorrow too...I want to see Z pitch.

I don't know if you'll know the answer to this, but I don't... I'm going to be down around the ballpark around lunch tomorrow, what are the chances of me walking up to the box office and picking up a pair of tickets? Do the Cards release more tickets the day of the game?

It's worth a shot, but unlikely. The Cards have this thing called "First Pitch," which is a system for unloading extra tickets returned from various sources. I'm sure you can find out about it on the team's website.

To the other folks who'll be there, I'll be in 248 (Redbird Club) tomorrow and Weds in field box down the third-base side. Will be rocking the Santo jersey for those games. Then Thurs, we'll be third row just past the Cards dugout. Marquis jersey shirt gets the call that night. He better not piss himself.

For some reason I'm thinking there was a player vote to allow that situation. There is definitely a clause about needing X amount of off days.

And, I didn't think there was really a choice given it was the end of the season...the game had to be played at some point.

Lou will probably throw Ronny right in the lineup...

Soriano (LF)

Theriot (2B)

Lee (1B)

Ramirez (3B)

Floyd (RF)

Jones (CF)

Cedeno (SS)

Kendall ©

Z (P)

don't mind that lineup. though i may have been okay with any lineup with Lee in it at this point

Yeah...the First pitch program is that the first 150 people at the gate at 9:00 a.m. can get 2 tickets a piece for $11 total...its a great deal if you can get it but you've got to be there......

OTherwise there are always scalpers outside of the Hilton and in Keener Plaza...they may be more reasonable considering the current state of the birds....the people here in STL are pretty down on the team right now.

I would like to see a combination of either Cedeno at SS, Fontenot at 2b and Derosa in RF or Cedeno at SS, Derosa at 2b and Floyd in RF. I am just not all that high on Theriot and I prefer his versatility and speed coming off the bench. Also Fontenot's minor league numbers make me feel more comfortable with him playing everyday.

I'm pumped for this game, and this whole series for that matter!

i cant' get excited. it's more fun to play st. louis when the act of defeating them will most greatly upset cardinal nation. this year, it's just kicking them while they're down (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I'm not buying that for two reasons. First, beating the Cards will never get old. And second, there are many here who still think the Cards have a shot if they have a good week against the Cubs and Brewers. So burying them with a sweep would be fantastic.

I can hardly sit still. Can't wait to head over to the park.

Cardinals suck. I'm sick of them bragging about their fluky 2006 championship. I would have much rather their 2004 team won it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

have i mentioned that i hate comcast sports net and their limited broadcasting range?

I'm surprised WGN didn't pick up a Cubs/Cards game.

I'm nervous...this is almost worse than being behind them...we're SUPPOSED to win these games...especially tonight...its like a 4-13 match up in the NCAA tourney...if you win, you're supposed to, if you lose you look bad....I just want to win the series...I would HATE, HATE, HATE if the cards beat us in a series and that had a measurable effect on our season...the fans here would love that almost as much as winning the WS last year.

is it just me, or do cub/cardinal games seem to have less umph to it when the cubs are in a division race and st louis isn't?

It's not necessarily that the Cubs are in the race, but more that StL isn't. It's hard to get up and excited to play a team that is going nowhere this year.
