I'd like to think Jones was traded, but I'm thinking Gallagher is sent down since he threw 4 innings yesterday and the rest of the bullpen is completely rested. Dempster is scheduled to throw an inning in AAA either today or tomorrow and then rejoin the team. Makes the most sense.

I'm assuming he'll play some at 1B while Lee is out. Other than that, I haven't a clue.

Since Gallagher was used yesterday he won't be able to pitch for at least 3-4 days. I'm thinking he got sent down and Fox was sent up until Dempster is off the DL and Fox gets sent back down. Since Lee was injured recently this makes the most sense.

First thought: Hendry's working the phones, and one or more teams have asked about Jake Fox, so he's getting an audition ahead of the trade deadline.

I'm just speculating here, but maybe the Cubs decided that, with Lee serving his suspension, another position player is more important than a 12th pitcher for the next four games. Gallagher pitched 4 innings yesterday and therefore probably wouldn't be available for several days anyway, so maybe he was sent back down. It's also possible Fox is only up for today; Dempster is scheduled to be activated tomorrow, so Fox may go back down to make room for him.

Fox was drafted as a catcher. Hard hands so he has been moved to corner OF and first base. Right handed hitter with some pop. Yes his K/BB ratio is interesting.

Also to expand on that point, since we are already down a hitter (Lee) and there is no way that Gallagher can pitch today and probably tomorrow (making a 11 man staff guaranteed), they decided to get the extra hitter for the next 2 games before Demp comes back.

Very good point. Probably makes the most sense, unless a miracle happened with the other guys. A 12 man staff means you only have 5 bench players, and Lee's suspension means it's only 4. Gallagher is unavailable today and probably tomorrow. Fox may just be here for a day or two. But how will he be added to the 40-man?

They will probably send Gallagher down because he went 4 yesterday and the rest of the bullpen is decently rested. I'm guessing the move is primarily to make sure they have another right handed bat while Lee serves his suspension. Then, when his suspension is over, Fox will go down and Dempster will come off the DL. Just my guess.
