He roots for the Yankees AND Red Sox. That tells me just about everything I need to know about this psychic.

I give him credit, though, for going out on a limb. Most psychics "predict" things like earthquakes in Japan.

as much of a clown as this guy might be, its not unfathomable that the cardinals could turn it on and win the wild card. Did anyone, let alone us expect us to have a fighting chance after that series loss to texas?

Theres still way to much baseball to be played to make assumptions.

I agree that it's not impossible, but it's certainly highly improbable. They are 8 games back in the wild card with 7 teams in front of them. Their best pitcher that was supposed to come back and save them, is continuing to have injury issues. The guys that performed for them last year are either injured, or just not performing this year. They've had 3 (I think) different relievers in the starting rotation this year.

With the Cubs, everyone said all season that they had the talent, they were just being very Cub-like and not putting it together. They finally have somehow seemed to do that.

I'm not meaning this as a Cardinals bashing thread. But I think the article was obviously pretty ridiculous...that was my point.

Some perspective....

STL is now 6 games behind us…9.5 behind the Brewers…and fading fast….Cincy could catch them w/in the next week or so…

Cubs have 68 games left…so if we go just 36-32…(very realistic, I expect much better)…that puts us at 86-76. To get to 86-76 STL has to go 43-27 over the same stretch….absolutely no reason to believe they can do that given their performance to date...and THAT'S just to catch us…to catch the Brewers or win the WC STL needs to go something like 48-22 over the same stretch….

Houston had turned it around by late july. the cardinals might win the wildcard . . . in 2008.

Ha! No.

I just realized this could be misconstrued.

By "Ha! No." I mean that they won't be any good next year either (barring drastic changes or a Jim Edmonds/Scott Rolen Christmas miracle).

Yet the Cardinals find themselves in striking distance of the NL Central lead (7 1/2 games back) and the wild card (seven back). David Eckstein was activated to the lineup Thursday, Jim Edmonds is close to returning and Carpenter is making rehabilitation starts in the minors.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume if 'alex the psychic' was writing this story today instead of July 13th, he would not have made this prediction.

Not sure, but I do think right about now he's hoping no one goes back and reads the prediction, given the Cards are screwed and all.

I can't be the only one who thinks that guy looks like a weirdo!

Anyway, this guy needs to put down the pipe because it's not happening.

Okay, a lot of people state that the Cardinals are the luckiest team in all of major sports (and I tend to agree). That's why I think they have a chance of winning the wild card. Let's not forget how we thought they were buried in 2001 when they were 8 1/2 games behind us then. They played in the playoffs and we didn't.

The Cards are a well run organization that benefits from competing against some of the worst run teams in sports. But I see no reason to pretend they have a chance this year.
