if you only want guys who are consistently dominant, you're going to have a hard time filling out a rotation. nobody in the cubs' rotation comes even close to matching that description.

Not the same thing. I never stated that I expected a dominant start every time out, I merely pointed out Hill's rather inconsistent nature. Lilly is far from Dominant but for the most part, you know what you are getting.

Not the same thing. I never stated that I expected a dominant start every time out, I merely pointed out Hill's rather inconsistent nature. Lilly is far from Dominant but for the most part, you know what you are getting.

 

An actual look at their performances show that this is far from the case. Lilly has 5 outings of 5 runs or more, and so does Hill. Expand it to 4 runs or more and it's only 7 to 6 in Lilly's favor, and they both have 8 outings of 3 runs or more.

that describes just about every pitcher in the game except for the top tier elite. even chris young wasn't amazing for his first 5 starts. though he hasn't had a bad start in weeks.

Get a boatload of young guys back, and replace Z in the rotation with Gallagher.
