In case it hasn't already been mentioned, today's Cubs sweep of the Sox is the first, at the Cell, in their history (both teams have swept at Wrigley Field). :D

Now, it would be nice for the Royals and Phillies to win!

Ozzie is giving hte Cubs credit.

"How many runs we score?"... "Wow, we really kill deh ball."

"We didnt play bad, they play really goo."

I'm still more concerned about the Cubs winning ballgames then what Milwaukee is doing right now. Sure it would be nice for them to drop some games, but it doesn't matter much until the Cubs get above .500.

when the Cubs do reach .500, some of us would like them to be 5 or 6 games out, not 8-9 games out. not exactly a silly concept.

I must also admit to be a little confused with the whole "let the Brewers win all they want until we're over .500" concept.

Actually, it does. It matters a whole lot more than getting to .500.

The idea is the Cubs getting back to respectability. What does it say about the Cubs if they are 5-6 games back and still under .500? It means they aren't very good.

I don't want Milwaukee to win all their games, but it isn't going to mean crap if the Cubs aren't winning.

what you implied is we are more concerned with the Brewers losing than the Cubs winning. I don't think there is any evidence here that we are more concerned about the Brewers than the Cubs. check the length of the Cubs threads vs. 'other games' threads for evidence of exactly what is concerning us more.

you also said it doesn't matter, which it most certainly does, that is unless winning the division is not the objective here, and I think it is.

I did not imply that. Your welcome to do whatever you want, but personally I'll start paying more attention to the standings when the Cubs are a serious threat.

Right now, I just care about the Cubs winning the division (or the WC). If it takes 90, fine. If it takes 85 or less, I'm plenty happy with that as well. How the Brewers do over the next month has a big impact on if the Cubs are in the race or out of the race at the deadline (of course, what the Cubs do has a bigger impact).
