Someone should explain to Hawk that it was like an offsides flag in football.

My favorite part is when they showed a freeze frame of Uribe's obstruction. He was silent for several pitches. Just sweet silence.

they must be having a tough day, cuz i could swear that they hate the cubs more. between strike zones changing on an inning by inning basis, tossing cubs pitchers without warning, catchers tagging with elbows and players still being called out, etc i'd say the cubs have a pretty solid case for the blue hating them

Haha.

Yeah, Hawk sometimes goes silent for entire innings. It's pretty funny actually.

Hawk: "This'll be overturned under protest!!!"

The League: "Um, no, once obstruction occurs the play is dead, period."

I think I'll be taking the league in any bets on how this will turn out.

actually, I don't think that's the rule as explained by Len and Bob. I think the 'when a play is made on the obstructed runner' before 'the play is dead' is significant.

in other words, DeRo and Pie are still in danger of being put out, until they make a play on Pagan. once they do that, the play is dead. it's a good rule as it doesn't reward the defense for interference by making the play dead right then and there and preventing the other runners from the opportunity of advancing.

OK, that's what it sounded like they said to me.

Don't know if this has been discussed in this game thread, but when I was running an errand this afternoon, Pat Hughes mentioned that the White Sox bullpen has an ERA of 8.19 over the last 40 games.

8.19

Wow... that's the stuff spring training cuts are made of. :)

I believe they were just as horrid in ST too. Haven't improved much in the regular season.
