Why's Marshall done after just 81 pitches thrown? I'm distractedly watching the game, was he seriously laboring?

Marshall was throwing fine, and Dempster is not available. This was a dumb change.

didn't the sox go like 1-66 against someone's bullpen last week? not saying he shoulda pulled him, but going from a soft tossing lefty to a hard throwing righty might just put the dagger in a team that clearly can't adjust to new pitchers.

they weren't doing crap against the guy who was in there already

hey, i said i didn't agree with the choice, but i can see where they got their inclination to do so.

we also don't know if marshall said something to lou or larry when he was in the dugout last time. he didn't seem to argue too much when lou came out for him.

That is very, very true. Marshall was neither surprised or upset. They had hit 3 or 4 warning track flyouts the last few outs, so maybe he told them he simply didn't have much left in the tank, or maybe they decided it themselves and he just agreed.

Maybe Lou is a little better about not throwing his pitchers 100+ pitches every time out, too -- unlike Dusty.

I watched yesterdays game, but I'm following on gamecast today. Can anyone tell me who they thought looked better, Hill or Marshall? To me, Hill didn't look that great yesterday and his curve was hanging up in the zone a ton and getting hit hard. Is Marshall doing better?

Hill had periods of total shakiness and periods of total dominance.

Marshall was consisently spotting well.

overall, I think Hill probably has to get the nod as the defense did alot to bail Marshall out today. but overall a really tough comparison.

Great. Stupid DirectTV is out cuz of a thunderstorm. Now I gotta listen to Hawk and DJ.

That's not necessarily a bad thing if the Sox are losing.

I agree. It seemed there were a few balls hit by both sides that would have been homers on another day, too. Only Soriano's monster shot made it out of the ballpark.

Good defense definitely helped Sean today. But hey -- he's here to give us innings and gut out some victories where & when he can, so he's doing a good job IMO.

Who was providing good defense? Just based on the hitting charts, it looked like Pagan had to travel pretty far for a few.

6 2/3 innings of shutout ball is always good regardless of how good the defense was behind them. i couldn't agree with ya' more

hawk now whining about the 2-2 pitch not being called a strike

Actually, I listened to Hawk & DJ yesterday and maybe it's just me, but they seemed unusually complimentary of the Cubs for some reason. They were almost gushing over Lee & Ramirez.
