why is everyone arguing with this kyle dude? isn't he a cards fan? of course he's going to lean the pads way.

No, I'm not a Cardinals fan. When have I ever not rooted for the Cubs?

I just don't agree with the "it went against the Cubs, it must be wrong" theory of fandom.

??

Who's saying it went against the Cubs, it must be wrong?

worst loss of the season

Not really. There were several that they lost in extra innings after the pen gave them 5+ innnings of shut out basebal because they failed to score despite having several opportunities with runners in scoring position. Those were much worse.

That's physically impossible. No matter what the pitch looks like from the behind-the-mound angle, it does not cross the front of home plate at the knees and hit the catcher's mitt well below.

You ever faced a big league hook?

You ever seen one analyzed on a high-speed camera?

I must have missed it.....did they show that pitch on a high speed camera replay? Huh.

you are an idiot if that is what you think is happening here--watch the stinking game. he has called EVERYTHING a strike and then got cub hitters down in the count on similar borderline pitcches in the bottom of the ninth--his calls lost us that game.

Either you are an antagonist or an idiot but eiterh way, I am done wasting my breath on someone as shallow minded as you

No, but lots of other curveballs have. And they don't bend as much as they appear to the naked eye, and they certainly don't do most of their bending in the last foot and a half.

The appearance that it crosses the front of the plate at the knees and is ankle-high at the catcher's mitt is an optical illusion.

No name-calling.

I know I am sorry--not usually into the whole "message board fighting"--just a frustrating loss and I really think that anyone watching this entire game knows that we got hooked on that one

again, i'd like to remind everyone that the cubs had to score a run to win the game, and against a really good bullpen with a terrible lineup, this was really unlikely to happen. I'd take the Padres' chances against our bullpen over our chances against theirs.

I already admitted I overslept and didn't see the rest of the game, and that it is perfectly possible that the ump had a wide strike zone.

The ump definitely had a wider zone than he did in the Branyan AB. But as Truffle pointed out, the Cubs are unlikely to score. Sucks for Z, but I don't see the Cubs winning anyways.

I suggest you watch Roy Halladay's performance yesterday.

Agreed, and for once I'm not really upset with the Cubs offense. It's disappointing that they didn't push across a run today, but they were facing a great pitcher for the first 4 innings and the best bullpen in the league after that. They were without their 2 best hitters, had their order messed up by the ejection, without their best hitter off the bench that otherwise would have come into the game, and also happened to be starting their backup catcher as well today.

All those factors pushed together makes it a really, really tough day to score runs.

Then why make comments to the rest of us when you really dont understand what we are talking about--you should have just kept quite on this one because you were grossly uninformed.

Man, is anyone else just feel like they could jump out of their skin after that one--I AM SO FRUSTRATED!

I just watched Young's words on my DVR about 100 times, and it's hard to see, but it's obvious Lee got pissed after Young said "take your base, ______."

What that word is I'm not 100% sure, but it looked to me like a word he definitely should not have used.

I dont blame him..they ask the dumbest questions and he tells it how it is..They ask like, what went wrong? What happened? Its like " umm you seen the freaking game, you know what went wrong"
