I just watched Young's words on my DVR about 100 times, and it's hard to see, but it's obvious Lee got pissed after Young said "take your base, ______."

What that word is I'm not 100% sure, but it looked to me like a word he definitely should not have used.

I saw "take your damn base _____" and I have no clue what that last word is.

No name-calling.

I know I am sorry--not usually into the whole "message board fighting"--just a frustrating loss and I really think that anyone watching this entire game knows that we got hooked on that one

I already admitted I overslept and didn't see the rest of the game, and that it is perfectly possible that the ump had a wide strike zone.

The ump definitely had a wider zone than he did in the Branyan AB. But as Truffle pointed out, the Cubs are unlikely to score. Sucks for Z, but I don't see the Cubs winning anyways.

I agree with your comments here. I think tomorrow is quite a big day for our cubbies

Man, Lou hates talking to the media.

I dont blame him..they ask the dumbest questions and he tells it how it is..They ask like, what went wrong? What happened? Its like " umm you seen the freaking game, you know what went wrong"

Oh, I know. With idiots like Sullivan around, I don't blame Lou.

here's the thing about the Cubs past four losses. they are all games they should have won and in all of them the umps played a huge part. it's difficult enough overcoming the opposition, having to overcome the umps makes it just too damn difficult to win against good major league teams.

I assume Lee will get some kind of suspension, but please tell me he will still likely get to play tomorrow.

Oh, and Branyan gets beamed tomorrow, right?

Kidding, I don't want Hill getting tossed, but it sure would be nice if the Cubs could get some retribution. I guess a W would be enough for me.

Why do we always come out on the short end of the stick in games like this?

Lose the battle win the war; get the series.

Let's hope so---one more complaint and I know this is a stretch but after watching the play on Theriot at the plate several times--the catcher NEVER tags him. They bump sides, but he never tags him. Again, i am not saying a guy would make that call, but technically he should have been safe. And say what you want--that is just the type of thing they would call somone like barrett for.

this was discussed at length in the thread. you are wrong. NY says so.

and incidentally that exact call was made on the play in which Chipper was injured just a few weeks ago.

is there any video of that play up? At first look I thought he tagged him but they never showed a real clear replay of it.

So is DLEE going to get 5 or 10 days? This is going to kill us having him and Ram out...

Relax, he gets to appeal during which time he can play. Aramis is back in 6 days.

Ok, my bad. I was not on computer during entire game. He definitely did not tag him. That is pretty clear I would say, now if you want to argue that this call will not usually go your way then that is a different story

I'm being sarcastic. several of us saw it, and it's more obvious on the second angle they showed after the game. it's crystal clear that he never got him with the mitt.

as for this call not going our way, believe me, I wouldn't be shocked at the umpires suddenly having uncanny abilities to observe things that hurt the Cubs, ie, Cedeno over sliding the bag, the phantom tag on a double play, etc. while missing things like fan interference on flyballs, punches to our middle infielders faces, etc.

Only comment I have about today's game... what you say can affect the game. My buddy and I were watching the game and avoiding saying the words "no hitter," despite my objections that it was ridiculous. In the 8th, I had to blurt it out, "NO HITTER NO HITTER NO HITTER CARLOS HAS A NO HITTER!" Next pitch was the first hit.

I've learned and I apologize for losing the game.

baseball fights are pathetic.

lou taking a header over the pile of guys scrapping is the highlight of the video though.

Nah.

When Cubs usually do well, I'm eating sunflower seeds. They usually start a rally.

Today, I completely forgot about them.

I apologize a trillion times.

I didn't see it live, but this pic sure makes it look like he was tagged out:

that's a great shot. an angle that was not available to anyone while the discussion was going on. I recind my comments.

the angle during the game was from above home. it looked like Bowen just stuck out his elbow. then the one after the game it looked like shoulder and elbow, but there was certainly nothing to indicate he got his mitt on Theriot before that pic.

even if he didn't have the glove on him, no ump is going to call him safe if he gets him with the forearm and not the glove. It's too hard to tell, and if the ball beats the runner, 99% of the time he'll be called out there.

like the way no ump is going to call the neighborhood play at second on a DP?

sometime check out the play on which Chipper injured both hands.
