I'd love to trade for Saltalamacchia, but frankly, I don't know how much I'd give up for a guy who will, at best, play about 3/4 of my games. If the Braves have nobody at 1b, it makes more sense for them to move Saltalamacchia there then to trade for a non-prospect like Micah Hoffpaiurr. I think you'd have to trade one of Marshall, Pie, Hill to get Salt and I doubt it's worth that. If Zambrano would get us Saltalamacchia, I'd definitely think about it.

Russell Martin runs circles around Michael Barrett. While Barrett has put up decent production numbers, overall he has been mediocre, and definitely does not warrant all-star status.

Martin and Molina should be the catchers on the NL all-star team

Come on, IMB!, there is no need to ridicule sunnydoo for putting forth this trade idea, is there?

Ah dont mind him. We have a history. He is still upset about the CP thing. Hopefully he will grow up soon. Until then, i just let everything he says roll down my back.

We are all passionate Cub fans and have differing opinions on things but want the same result.

But ty for the thought though.

Hey, we have a lot of OF, so why don't we trade Pie for a 27 year old in AAA, and a couple of middle relievers.

Seriously, it was that stupid.

Because when you sell that low on a player that actually has some talent you will get nothing in return, hurting the team in the long run?

You were probably joking, this comment is more general than specifically directed at you.

I do question why Hill is getting a chance as opposed to Soto...Soto, at least to me, seems to be a much better prospect, I'm curious why he's not being given a shot to play

Perhaps the organization thinks that he isn't quite ready? I dunno.

Schuerholz is too good a GM to trade a guy like Salt and only get Howry and Cotts/Cherry as the main pieces to help him reach that goal.

I really think you guys are selling Hoffpauir's ability short 312/350/889 isnt terrible for AAA. Was 268/362/956 last year in AA. Would like higher OPS, but he hasnt shown lots of pop...more of a line drive hitter.

Maybe it takes another throw in or another team involved for some hot 3 way...either way i think Atl is the way to go.

You're trying to trade for Saltalamacchia. Not Richard Lewis and Andy Pratt.

Don't insult Juan Cruz!

actually i was thinking about this today since barrett is on my fantasy team (one of my horrible draft moves)...maybe they didn't bring up soto because they knew hill was just a short term move and they didn't want soto just sitting on the bench until zambrano pitched...

barrett getting "time off" probably wasn't even a thought in lou's mind at that point

My guess is Hill made a better impression on Piniella than Soto in ST for whatever reason.

So of course they'd go off of what happened then compared to their AAA stats.

AAA stats and the fact that Soto was already on the 40-man.

If we seriously hit them with a deal like Hoffpauir, Howry, and Cotts/Cherry or some other young pitcher (not Guzman or Marmol or any of our current starters), how in God's name would Schuerholz turn that down?

Seriously the Braves dont have any high talent 1b prospects other than Thorman who is stuck around .230. I love Micah, but he does not have a future in Chicago. He is blocked at all of his spots.

please kids, stop drinking the Kool Aid.

Could it be that Soto was already hurting a little bit when Hill came up? Raisin reported that the reason Soto is playing 1B is because he has an injury and he cannot catch. Looking back through the game logs, Soto was at 1B on June 2nd, at catcher on the 3rd and 4th, and then stopped playing at catcher.

Hill was called up on the 1st-so it's somewhat probable that Soto had the injury even then. He tried to play through it on the 3rd and 4th, and then when it got worse because of him catching they decided to move him to 1B for a while. The Cubs might not have had much of a choice on which catcher to call up. Did it specify a date on that injury Raisin?

No clue, CCP. I read about it for the first time today while reading the Des Moines Register. It wasn't a *severe* injury ("shoulder fatigure").

Salty didnt get a sure out with the infield in tonight in the 9th while playing first, and it ended up costing his team the game.

Homer OS called it an IF hit.

More please.
