He played well yesterday and then he has a triple, HR, and 2 rbi's today. Any chance he and theriot become the middle infield? Or at least Fontenot getting regular playing time at 2b?

I love that Fontenot is doing this, but why does everyone want to get rid of DeRosa? He certainly has played well.

Now-if DeRosa can somehow play SS again, and DeRosa and Fontenot can play together until Fontenot has a long cold streak like Theriot is in the middle of right now, I would be on board for that.

I think the key is just to get Cesar out of the picture. Fontenot, Theriot and DeRosa should get almost all of the at-bats at 2B/SS though IMHO.

an all tiger middle infield would be just fine with this ex-tiger!!!

The all-Cajun middle infield, with DeRosa in RF.
sounds like a winner to me, somehow get rid of Jones and Izzy and i might crap myself out of sheer joy

Theriot is not very good defensively at SS and cant handle it over the long haul (arm and range). That said, he is an excellent sub.

I would love to see DeRosa shopped and have Fontenot, Izturis, and Theriot switching out in the middle. DeRosa with JJ or MM might bring an upgrade in the pen or bring us the decent catcher we sorely need.

I dunno. It actually seems like Theriot has been playing better defense at SS. I have noticed him getting to balls with improved range. Am I imagining this, or have you guys seen it too?

Yes, by all means, let's shop the guy with the .800 OPS and 4th highest OBP on the team (among guys with over 100 ABs), who by the way is making just about 4M per season for a bullpen arm or a 2nd no-hit all glove catcher to go with Blanco.

i agree with AG. The bat that Theriot brings for as cheap as he is, is infinitely more valuable than the supposed great defense of Izturis (who's defense i find merely average at this point in his career). I think Izturis is the one that should be shopped here, as made obvious by the fact that well, he sucks.

DeRosa IMO has been a valuable asset to this team so far. He can adequetely play 4 positions and is third on the team in RBI. Sure, we overpaid for him, but every good team needs a player with his versatility.

Welcome to the bigs, Fontenot. Bet you didn't realize it was a league of blatant favoritism, cheating, and umpire incompetence, eh?

He played in the SEC. It's nothing new to him.

LOL, that's probably why he barely blinked when it happened 8-)

Right now Fontenot and Theriot are two heads of the same spark plug. FONRIOT?

I wouldn't bother trying to combine those two last names. Therenot good ways to pull it off, trust me.

this guy can actually get on base pretty well... meaning the cubs will stop playing him really soon

 I don't know about you guys, but I'm enjoying watching Pie, Fontenot, and Theriot play over our mediocre and overpaid veterans.

You seem to be forgetting that our mediocre overpaid veterans can catch the b... nevermind. GO youth movement!
