Why is it a really good idea? There's no reason to push Zambrano back a start and that doesn't help our bullpen situation.

Yeah, I mean, even if he does get suspended, he'll likely appeal it which would mean he would be available for the next couple days.

 

EDIT: Though if he gets suspended for 1-4 games, he should just start serving it immediately so he doesn't miss a start.

I'm not totally sure what would work best here, especially if there's a chance Lilly might get suspended. Warmups and all that can take a toll on a pitcher, but if he's ready to go tomorrow or Tuesday...why not?

Of course Lilly shouldn't be supsended. But he shouldn't have been ejected and, at the very least, Renteria should have been ejected. Piniella shouldn't have been suspended for 4 games either. You know Lilly is going to get suspended and forced to miss a start.
