The Cubs first ESPN game was the home opener, which they lost 1-5.

Second one was against the Cards, which was cancelled due to the death of Josh Hancock.

Third was also a 4-5 loss, where Wuertz walked in a run @ NYM.

It's only uphill from here?

Or we'll continue our sucking ways against whichever bum from Richmond that the Braves call up.

Even though the Cubs should win this game (please don't throw BP pitches, Ted), I have to say that it is good to know that, at the very least, the Cubs are guaranteed a split in Atlanta which is about what we could have hoped for coming in.

That being said, I'll still be disappointed if we lose this one (again, please don't throw BP pitches, Ted).

Didn't I see that Braves pitcher on an NBC show with Chris Hansen?

I think a split is a pretty big letdown actually. They score 4 on Hudson in the first inning, and get out of facing Smoltz. There is/was no reason they couldnt take 3 of 4 and if they win tonight they really should of swept, if not for Marquis craptacular start.

Not only that, but they get Jones actually doing something with the hat and taking out Hudson just as he seemed to be recovering from the 1st and getting locked in. Oh, but then some mytsical and mysterious SIDE-THROWER comes in, to baffle and frighten the Cubs with his superhuman abilities, ooooooooooh!

I'm really sick of how a tiny tweek in the "typical" pitch delivery leaves the Cubs baffled, like a guy throwing sidearm, or, say, left-handed.

Carlyle is a career AAAA guy. There is no reason the Cubs shouldn't light him up. That being said, he'll shut the Cubs down.

if we win, will will be 5-4 against the braves this season!!!

they already started off 4-3...that is a playoff advancement...

oh...these cubs!@

Hopefully, the power of the lefty can baffle the Braves once again. Also, I'm rooting for the Rangers to pull another rabbit out of their hat and sweep the Brewers (then they can resume their losing ways just in time for us to arrive in Texas on 6/19).

If Lilly doesn't throw at Andruw Jones in his first AB, I'll be annoyed.

Indeed.

I'd rather they win the game. If we are ahead by quite a bit throw at him.

i just got done talking to lilly and he said, and i quote, "I got my stuff today, if i close my eyes I can still see the strikezone, obi wan will be with my arm today, mark my words, here comes a perfect game!"

Hudson beaned Soriano on the first pitch of the game last night. Pretty obvious it was intentional.

Degen Gambler Worthless Trends O' the Day

EDIT: The Cubs were huge dogs earlier today. Now they are favorites. Either something happened with the status of a player or somebody put huge money on the Cubs.

The Good:

Braves are 2-8 in their last 10 home games.

Braves are 2-8 in their last 10 games following a win.

Braves are 0-4 in their last 4 Sunday games.

Braves are 0-4 in their last 4 games vs. a left-handed starter.

Braves are 0-5 in their last 5 home games vs. a left-handed starter.

Braves are 2-5 in their last 7 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.

The Bad:

LILLY is 1-2 when starting against ATLANTA with an ERA of 6.35 and a WHIP of 1.235.

His team's record is 1-3 (-1.9 units) in these starts.

Cubs are 3-8 in their last 11 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.

The Umpire Splits - Jim Wolf:

Home team is 10-2 in Wolf's last 12 games behind home plate vs. Chicago.

Road team is 7-3 in Wolf's last 10 Sunday games behind home plate.
