Lou did bump into him with his body before the kicking started, but that's not enough to warrant a suspension....maybe a small fine

i heard on espn radio today that the fat bastard was told by the third base ump that lou kicked him and he relayed that on to mlb. in an interview with lou before the game he was specifically asked by the media if he kicked him, so i think that's the contact in question

Yes, the Atlanta broadcasters today were talking about the kick to the leg by Lou and they showed a replay that showed Lou's foot making contact with the 3rd base umpires pant leg on the first dirt kick. It was a very slight kick if it even went through the pants to his leg. At worst he barely tapped him and it's pretty obvious that it was NOT intentional.

I have to think since they suspended him right away that he's going to get more than one game. I'm guessing that it will either be 3 or 5 games which is complete BS. It's BS he got one.

So how many games does Froeming get suspended for. He actually pushed him. :x

None. This is a one-way street. Umps get to act like complete buffoons any time they want and everyone else has to just sit and take it.

Let Lou vent after 2 months of horrid baseball though? Oh WOW! Hey! You can't do that!!! Suspension!!

Yet another double-standard in this game that we could do without.

who cares? he's a terrible coach

Who is a terrible coach?

Clearly I'm talking about Bryan Murray of the Ottawa Senators.

The Cubs have been on, as Wojo put it, some sort of double-secret probation with MLB's umpires for at least three years. Frankly it's pissing me off.

Clearly you are not talking about Lou because he isn't a coach. He is a manager.

Call any minor league or major league manager a coach and see what kind of reaction you get.

I think MLB was taking into account Lou's statement that he didn't care if he was really out, he was going to get himself thrown out regardless. Lou has handled the past 2 weeks with about as little amount of poise and professionalism as you can. Going ballistic the day after the brawl was ridiculously predictable, just like a lot of beanball wars are predictable.

Enough with the ridiculous "MLB is after us" nonsense. Do you really think MLB wants to keep the Cubs from winning? The Cubs in the playoffs draw some of their biggest numbers possible. MLB would kill to see the Cubs win big and play deep into October.

What is? That it is false? Or ridiculous that would set them off?

It's ridiculous that you're arguing semantics -- whether or not you call a manager "coach" or he has the title "coach", he's still a coach. Splitting hairs like that is borderline trolling.

Trolling? That is ridiculous.

Lighten up, I meant it as a half-joke. It is true though, I've seen it over and over again in my travels mainly within minor league baseball. It ticks managers off to be called coach.

I'm not all that upset with Piniella's suspension. It's not like he's been helping us win ballgames.

The Piniella experiment has been a disaster thus far.

How much blame does Lou get for the team's struggles? 30%? 50%? The team has sucked all around, not just Lou.

I would say much less than 30%. But that's not the point. It's not like the Cubs are missing anything without him on the bench.
