Isnt the "derek jeter gene" defined as being overrated?

It's like the opposite of Brian Giles. Derek Jeter has been called overrated for so long that he's actually underrated by many now. Dude has a .390 career OBP, a 124 OPS+, and plays just about every game. That OPS+ puts him ahead of every shortstop except for Honus Wagner, A-Rod, Arky Vaughan and Nomar. So yeah, I'd take him.

apparently fist-pumping and intangibles are more important than being a good baseball player

Are you honestly saying Jeter is not a good baseball player? I'm no Yankee lover, but Jeter is a hell of a player. He catches a lot of crap just because he plays for the Yankees in my opinion.

He catches a lot of crap because of how he has been elevated by some.

He is very good, but not nearly as good as his worshippers, and that includes many in the media, portray him to be.

And add his 253 career SB at 79% success rate.

Jeter is most definetly not overrated. Overpublicized, probably.

Career Post Season for Jeter

.314 .383 .479

Most viewership happens in the post season and Jeter rakes when everyone is watching.

I'M GONNA WRITE AN ARTICLE

FIRST I'M GONNA USE SOME GOOD STATS (OBP, SLG, ETC.) TO INTRODUCE JD DREW

AND THEN I'M GONNA JUSTIFY MY PICK OF JD DREW AS "OVERRATED" WITH BAD STATS (RsBI)
